  1. Aguda took a page out of the Washington rally not to announce the schedule until the day before

      Less Loshon Horah.

    2. They do this all the time.
Somewhat makes sure controversial speakers can be eliminated.
Also prevents demonstrations and (somewhat) catcalling controversial speakers like in the past.

  2. One of the people listed about as speaking about TORAH MAGNA UMATZLA: INCREASING OUR LIMUD IN AN EIS TZOROH went with his Talmidim to the rally in Washington DC and has two shiurim online in support of the rally. (one was given on the bus on the way) So apparently even those on the Moetzes who opposed the rally still feel that supporting attendance is a valid Torah haskafa. Otherwise he wouldn't be the person asked to speak on such a topic.

    1. Silly comment
You are naive how they operate

    2. Aren't we glad that the hashkafa embraced by all of the Gedolim in 1967 is still considered at least a valid Torah hashkafa. Savor the small victories.

  3. Due to the last minute release it was noticed a lack of chasidishe representation and no modern Orthodox speakers or the olam should not go
those who are already on the way do not have to turn around.

  4. Agudah is past its hey day, perhaps irrelevant in todays day and age. Most large mosdos and chasidus, satmar, bobov, belz, chabad have their own connections with the govt agencies they need, to get what they need. Any issues regarding our community at large we have enough "askonim" to effectively convey our communities position w/o the help and connections of agudas yisroel.
Throwing a law suit here and their for eruvs etc can be done w/o agudas yisroels participation and fighting new york state for education issues needed the participation of the schools and mosdos in any case so i dont see how aguda is still relevant today

    1. What have most large mosdos and chasidus, satmar, bobov, belz, chabad ever done for the klal as a whole? When did Aguda ever have to come on to them for their political connections? How many times did they come onto Agudah for it's political connections. And political connections is one small aspect of Agudah. e.g. If Schmerel can't find a job are most large mosdos and chasidus, satmar, bobov, belz, chabad going to help him? Etc,

    2. we have enough "askonim" to effectively convey our communities position w/o the help and connections of agudas yisroel. Really? I can't recall a single time that the community needed something and some unaffiliated "askonim" or "askonim" involved with a specific mosod or group stood up to the plate and dealt with it. Let me know when that happened

      Delete
    3. You're right. Askanim as a whole are an ungebluzenem eey. But the when did the Aguda step up to the plate with a practical solution to anything? They are as useless as the askonim.

    4. There have been many
      major bills pigeonholed ; momentum in primaries occasionally have been changed;
      staying always alert for endless negative turns, usually often failing,despite their warnings to the grubbe organization & public characters;
Those very few righteous sacrificing individuals who astonishingly give away their all without a drop of community appreciation. They even expect to get denigrated sadly.
They have come from experience to despise the big organizations. The generally stay away from them & their types except rarely when some benefit accrues to the public that route though they're well aware they'll never ever receive anything but tzaros for it.

&when things somehow have success, in spite of the big organizations, those big organizations will take & receive the credit.
Most of those applauding articles you receive in the propagandist weeklies are naturally total hogwash
Call them Klal yidden don't call them askanim

If Only you Can try perhaps to Have some inkling

Hopefully they will be getting major olam haba
Everybody else has already takes their the olam hazeh

  6. I can summarize the program in three words - Gornisht mit nisht.

With all the pompous talk about 'Klal Yisroel' (I can't write the Mid-West accent in words, so read them in that accent), and the clapping and cheering, can someone tell me what the purpose here is? Is someone going to keep Mitzvos better because of this? Some baalebatim paid for a Shabbos, where they will be lectured by Rabbonim. Why can't these Rabbonim just say a Shmuess to the baalebatim in their own Shuls? Who needs a conference to help them 'strive for more ruchniyus'? Your Rav gives Derashos about Torah, Middos, Mitzvos, Tzedaka, Tefilla, less Gashmiyus, and everything else you need to hear. What is this conference all about?

    1. So the movers can move around like the CIA observing who may later be of use for them

  7. Please note many event planners and caterers make their livelihood from the Agudah. It also saves the speakers and their families money from not having to go out to eat. For the aforementioned reasons one should cease mocking their convention.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But if they don't go out to eat, how will the tireless restaurant owners make money? And what about the tips?

  8. Such farbissenkeit here. Maybe the Aguda should address that at the convention as well. You don't want to go to the convention, then don't. You believe you can accomplish what Aguda does without them, by all means go ahead and do so.. What did Agudah ever do to you that mere mention of who is speaking by the convention (mostly respected Talmidey Chachomim) compels you to respond this way?

    ReplyDelete
  9. "without them, by all means"
    would be lovely
Except the community has only so much resources & energy
They suck out away the oxygen

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If they aren't doing anything anyway how do they suck any oxygen, resources & energy? Say some askonim decide to start an alternative to Aguda, what power does Aguda have to stop them? It would HELP them if Aguda picked a fight with them. The publicity and the sympathy from those who hate Aguda would have them up and running.

    2. Childish challenge.Besides,they do enough.They run interference.
Just for tidbits: ask about those involved with Dean Skelos & marriage in Albany in '11 ( we have a recorded conversation)
Or another-Schnall,Schaer & pulling the plug in Trenton in '14
      ?

      Delete
  10. Moish Gordon a"h nearly started a branch of Degel, but was requested to desist
Aguda lacks competition therefore & has little need ever to answer to our concerns. They stamp.down.
When baale batim get irked by contrast eg the recent rally whitewashing their previous statements ,Aguda runs to placate them since there are other orgs. for the disaffected to turn to!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Who wass Moish Gordon? What possible practical function would an American branch of Degel H'Torah have? What about Rav Shach"s letter after he started Degel ( printed in Mictovim U'Maamorim) telling American's NOT to break off from the American Agudah?

      Delete
    2. If there were an American Degel it would need Aguda too. It wouldn't even know what it's own positions are until Aguda would say something. Then it would come and say differently.

      Delete
    3. The letter was actually BECAUSE originally he recommended they start Degel in America .When aguda leadership begged him to desist, he agreed to change tack.
He insisted Moish should be flown in to the original rally for Degel in E"y
Only afterward he also suggested flying perhaps in R Elya S
