- In the New Jersey 30th legislative district, if Democratic Assembly candidate Avi Schnall, himself born and bred in Brooklyn wins on Tuesday, he will be in the political Catbird Seat. Until recently a Republican, he is only running as a nominal Democrat, agreeing to caucus with the Democrats without being committed to the passage of their center – left legislative agenda. If the Democrats retain Assembly control, with their current 46-34 majority or less, as appears likely, they will need every single non-Republican vote to be assured passage of critical bills.  This will give Schnall considerable negotiating leverage for passage of his own legislative agenda promoting his district’s interests and thus put him in the figurative “catbird seat.” (Insider NJ)

Letter from Lakewood Roshei Yeshiva

43 comments:

  1. I'm gonna go wayyyyy out on a limb and predict that in 5 - 10 years, nothing will be different even if Schnall wins. Nothing. Except that the umos haolom in the surrounding towns and their politicians will hate us for kicking a friendly Republican in the teeth when we thought we may gain from it.

    8. This letter from the RY is against someone, but we can't figure out who. Someone who doesn't have the yoke of the Tzibur, yet talks against them.

Obviously, there is a choshuve Talmid Chacham somewhere who disagrees with them, and they claim they have the yoke of the Tzibur and he doesn't.

So from this sign we can see that there are two sides to the Sugya, and there is no Psak about it.

  3. There are 50000 plus children in lakewood private school there are 250000 plus children in nj private schools . Use you head if only half of them get tuition relief that would be 125000 children so say each child will get 500 dollars than the relief program will need over 60 million yes that's right over 60 million and that's 500 dollars which how can you n that relief that's less than 10 percent of tuition in lakewood

  4. Dear Lakewood community,
I am writing to formally announce a change in my campaign intentions for the Lakewood School Board position. After careful consideration and evaluating the qualifications and dedication of all candidates, I have decided to withdraw my name from the running and throw my full support behind the three new candidates on the ballot, namely Eli Eisenbach, Yoni Morgenstern & Avrohom Shubert.
It is paramount that our school district has the best leadership in place, and I genuinely believe that these three individuals have a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand and possess the skill set required to drive positive change for our students, educators, and community as a whole.
This decision was not made lightly. My primary goal has always been the betterment of our school district, and I am confident that supporting these three new candidates is the best way to achieve this.
I humbly ask that you consider giving your votes to these dedicated individuals. We are fortunate to have such well-qualified candidates who are familiar with the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for Lakewood schools.
I am profoundly grateful for all the support and encouragement I've received throughout this journey. It has been a privilege to stand for a position on the school board, and I am excited about the bright future of Lakewood schools under the guidance of these three remarkable candidates, Eli Eisenbach, Yoni Morgenstern & Avrohom Shubert.
Thank you for your understanding and for your commitment to the future of our students.
    Warm regards,
    Yehuda Shain

  5. Why does R Sorotzkin insist All Roshey Yeshiva & Robbinim of Lakewood bach Schnal when everyone NOW knows this is no longer true???

  6. Reb Dovid Shustal hung up a sign in Yeshiva that he spoke to Reb Elya Ber who confirmed that he did not retract his endorsement of Avi Schnall and he is very upset that people spread such rumors. The sign is hanging on the wall in all buildings for anyone who would like to go look.

  10. A historical first.A odom gadol being moche for his own kovod!Wow!
And then some Uncalled for comments those who disagree with him. If someone disagrees with him Is he necessarily biased and not have the best of the community in mind??. Or more to the point is rabbi Levine shlitah biased Does he not care for the community at least as much as the roshei yeshiva shlitah. A little class in honor would go it long away.....

    1. Rabbi Levine did not say or write anything about Schnall.

He wrote about the BOE candidates, that we should vote for the 'Fixing the Formula' candidates.

That is no contradiction to Schnall. You can vote for both

  11. First they put up signs to vote to widen the 9 and for lower taxes, with no explanation how they will do that.

Then they said that they won't do either of those, but that this candidacy will make rich people donate more to Mosdos, making the Menahalim's jobs easier. Somehow, we are all meshubad to the Menahalim to make their jobs easier.

But then, when it became obvious that this plan is unfeasible, DOA in NJ, they pulled out the Da'as Torah/Achdus card.

Not once did they respect the Tzibbur enough to tell us what they want and why! Not once did they respect the Bnei Torah they claim to honor with a few words of truth! We are all affected by this, yet they won't tell us why this is in our interests.

And now they are protesting שיוצאים נגדינו! No!!! You were יוצא נגדינו!! You shot the first arrow!

  13. We are living in a time where young bully askanim are controlling access to the Roshei yeshiva and not letting people talk to them.
An entire town being fed lies in a carefully orchestrated campaign of deception and they keep moving the goal posts as they are called out.
The power of corruption has seeped in deep inside our holy infrastructure of yeshivos and roshei yeshivos

  14. Rav Meir Stern told them why are you bringing the problems of NY chinuch to Lakewood

    ReplyDelete
  15. Reb Elya Ber told his talmidim in Lakewood last week that he's retracting because of gezeiras chinuch and other reasons that is a fact there were a nice amount who heard it directly
maybe he switched back after speaking to Rav Dovid but there was no Ziyuf it was 100 percent true

  16. There's alot going on behind the scenes unprecedented bullying by the young askanim please daven for our leaders that they can stand up to this
Lots of rabbinin are opposed to this dangerous move

  17. Almost 5000 mail in ballots from Lakewood sounds like the democrats are running the show where are they all from

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is this letter from the Roshei yeshiva attacking all opposition including the Great Dr Rich?
What about Rav Meir Stern who didn't support it

  19. Why did R S Alter have to come to the Shiur last night with hired body guards? Are the Litvaks in Lakewood commons such a threat? Lol

  20. Why is it that for this political campaign, which may have only a marginal benefit if any, all the Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbonim have found their voices to come out strongly, but when it comes to addressing serious issues in our community, they say they have no power? Additionally once they had all Roshei Mosdos sign the letter of support they should have signed to commit not to use the tuition benefits without passing on the savings ti the hamon am.

  21. When most youngeleit voted against the Roshei yeshiva by the Murphy Ciaterelli race why was there no letter against them?
Since when is everyone expected to ignore their own rebbeim and mesorah?
And if they dare stand up for it they get called out???
    This is unprecedented

    1. The great Bnei Torah of Hefkervelt!!! Using their mesorah and making assumptions about what their rebeim say to take of the mantle of Kovod Shomayim as they bravely and anonymously post blog comments against those silly Roshei Yeshiva of BMG, who clearly have no basis for expressing their daas baal habayis and are foolish enough to be hoodwinked by the evil young askanim. Ashrei avoseichem shelimdu eschem Torah! Ashrei raboseichem shelimdu eschem Torah! You are the Pnei Hador.

    2. Setting up an childish impudent strawman
against ehliche who as much as anybody out there bar none lay in bed at night worrying about Klal Yisroel

      Delete
    3. Mr. Cohen: Apparently you missed the point while searching for the strawman. Worrying about Klal Yisroel is no excuse for blatant disregard of divrei raboseinu roshei hayeshiva shlit"a. Afilu al yemin shehi semol applies precisely to this, and no amount of ehrliche klal cheshbonos override that; you might as well be one of those young askanim you so despise.

    4. Foolish. They aren't just ehrliche .They Would have been your Rabosainu EXCEPT because unlike the others drinking tea with shtellers they gave it up as much as anybody out there bar none worrying about Klal Yisroel

The olam sees thru this there's more to the story of just tuition relief

  26. There is way to much hype something is not making sense and not adding up. The claim of tuition relief almost sounds like some scam something is being hidden. No one is writing letters and screaming gedolim over some tuition relief that even avi says is years away from even happening so factvthat they are saying vote for avi is for something else that we are not being told about what are they hiding here
