going forward Avi Scnallis an incumbent that can't be beat
can Republicans stop Schnall from taking over Bob Singers senate seat?
Republicans are already sounding pessimistic about their chances of beating Schnall in future years. If Schnall could unseat an incumbent assemblyman by 22 points, it’s hard to see how he could ever lose unless the Lakewood voter turnout operation suffers a massive collapse.

In fact, Republicans are beginning to fret about their other 30th district seats. If Lakewood wanted to take out Kean in 2025, they probably could; Singer, meanwhile, is a former Lakewood mayor and has deep ties to the Orthodox community, but if he retires in 2027, there may be nothing Republicans can do to prevent Schnall from taking his seat.
Even just one Democratic assemblyman, though, gives Lakewood more prominence in state government than they’ve ever had before. This year was a massive demonstration of the Lakewood Orthodox community’s political power; now it’s time to find out how they’ll use it. Nj Globe More

  1. The real numbers are that 80% of the frum voting age people did not vote or register
out of the 21k of votesn in Lakewood for Avi Schnal the frum vote was a bit under 20k if you minus the Hispanic and other democrat voters. That means there are over 100k adults in Lakewood over 18 who can vote and 80% of adults in Lakewood 18 and over DID NOT VOTE FOR AVI SCHNALL
The media is lying and pretending this was a massive win
It was a massive win in contrast but 80 percent of frum adults in Lakewood didn't vote

    1. While the data you present may be correct, it is crucial to compare it with other communities, not with what Lakewood "could've" put out. While it may look good to say how far it did not go, at the end of the day lakewood DOUBLED their percent of turnout from the last state midterms, i.e. "off year" elections. THIS is still intimidating for anyone it is a massive improvement. Actually, the potential to increase turnout over the next few elections, is massive if the data you claim is correct, but I doubt it all is..... Can you please quote a source.

    2. The point of this election was to flex the muscle and show politicians that the Lakewood community has significant sway and can swing an election. If there’s one thing that makes politicians listen to a particular group, it’s thats groups ability to get them elected (or voted out). Thompson probably was a great individual, but voting him in wouldn’t have proven anything. This election was about making a point. Which was made by voting him out by such a significant margin in a red district, and we will now certainly have all the elected officials attention. Oh and possibly as important - I’m sure they read this site and TLS, and are aware that there were troublemakers trying to fight the election of Schnall - they are now convinced that an endorsement by the Lakewood Rabbonim aid all that matters. Not FAA or anyone else’s negative spin.

    4. Anon 11:26 after spending over a million dollars and high jacking every form of print media and websites statuses chasidishe olam marketing watsapp groups bill boards and signs across every undeveloped area of Lakewood threatening rabbonim putting out angry letters and videos bullying roshei mosdos and the community you still came up short big time
It was a bad strategy with a weak candidate that didn't resonate outside the bubble.
Next time try to speak nicely to people without scare tactics and don't use the young askanim bullies who sat and smoked nightly in the office maybe tone it down and get out to the masses with a little humbleness it could go a long way and bring greater results

    5. You so right. This election was about making a point and they all saw it, from the time Governor Murphy made known his opposition to fixing the formula without anyone objecting to him, until the very end, they all now know, "Don't increase state aid to Lakewood." I'm sure Sarlo and Ruiz who were so gung ho on what the court victory meant are probably thinking, "Wow. They don't even want the funding."

Give them some programs, throw them a stick here and there, and just keep on lending money. Let the debt implode on the watch of the next guy but don't infuriate Lakewood by giving more state aid to its district because the power brokers have made know their opposition. I wonder what our great grandkids are going to say? We had a chance to thrive as a community or the coming economic and financial downfall was inevitable anyway?

    6. hi anon 12:36. i guess you're the guy who loves calling askanim "young", as if that's the worst insult ever.

    7. Yes young exactly as chazal say binyan nearim stira the young orlando kiddush fressers who flock around the helicopter have brought churban and machlokes to Lakewood their drunkenness from power got to their head and its a high more than the edible Marijuana they were mevazeh the roshei yeshiva and put them in very uncomfortable situations.
They used rav Yitzchok to attack anyone who stood up or did not jump when they said to. It is a deep swamp of gaava that has infected Lakewood

  2. An important point they made (which was ignored here) was how Thomson started this by ignoring the needs of Lakewood because he felt that "as a Republican" he couldn't help us while Singer and Kean did.

It goes against all the stupidity some people were pushing who were against the Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbonim.

    1. thomson did whatever kean did. he did whatever he thought the powers that be wanted him to do. making things up is not "an important point" and using words like "stupidity" to insult people shows that you have no argument.

    2. You are spewing lies with no facts to back up your claim. The truth is there are many people in Lakewood including rabbonim and roshei mosdos that have a personal relationship with Thompson he helped pass many bills favoring the Jewish community and helped get state funding for mosdos as well as LSTA etc..
And don't think that the powers to be already have their eyed on Bob Singers seat or Kean for next election.
They took a friend of the community and spit him in the face. And had the chutzpah to call him out for dog whistling when they called schnal a Rabbi after askanim stabbed him like that

    3. Anon 9:06 - Not once did a single campaign ad, robocall, sign, or op-ed mention this.

Until now, nobody has given us a single explanation why we should vote for Schnall. Neither have we ever heard of a single favor Singer, Kean, or Thompson ever did for us.

I think these people did favors for the people in power, and nothing trickled down to the public at all. For example, Singer did favors for the Yeshiva, for example. Which favors? To help them build Cedarbridge. Did any yungerman in Yeshiva gain anything from the building at Cedarbridge? Do we want steakhouses, fancy stores, takeouts, and offices? Do we benefit from it? Why should we vote for someone because he did things that we don't want?

I don't know what Schnall will do. But I find it highly unlikely he will do us any favors, when he did not even pretend to promise to do us any favors.

    4. Well, I wanted baseball and we got the stadium, until they told us we could not go. It was all talk. They promised baseball and did not deliver it. Or they delivered to our Gentile friends but we were told that even if a single grandparent goes, the child will be expelled from Hebrew school. Some promise. Don't bring baseball and don't ban it. Why get us so excited and then let us down?

    5. Tuition relief was Schnall's promise. Am I the only one that saw the signs?

    6. the biggest bills singer, kean and thomson did for the lakewood community were the bussing bill and the hatzolah bill. they are public knowledge so i don't know why you think no one ever heard of them. also, they used their connections to help many people and mosdos on a personal level.

    7. BTW The Roshei Yeshiva were NOT behind all of this. Essentially, it all came down from corporate headquarters. They understood what both sides were saying, and that one side was more convincing, but were between a rock and hard place.

Can someone actually provide an example of a bill etc. that singer and keane supported but not thompson?

  4. Veterans day actually tomorrow Nov 11th, some offices are closed today or get paid overtime..
Public commenting is a waste of time, unless you have a massive public outcry they never ever listen. Even then sporadic..
Does the committee even explain the rational for the abatements? Its not like the area needs revitalization. These buildings will probably need revitalization in 30 years once their abatements commence, as the buildings will be older, plus they contain inadequate parking for their tenants.
Mail-in voting is the way to go - not sure why anyone would waste their time with in-person voting.
