- R' Aaron Lang on 50 million state loan to Lakewood BOE: That is not adequate and we are wasting time. We need another $100 million a year and the debt has to be forgiven. Even if we get the $100 million a year, we will still need another $30 million to pay down the debt. Our debt payments are already $20 million a year and by now, equal to our state aid. So Lakewood, with all its expense, gets NO STATE AID under the formula.

- APP reports on 50 million dollar loan to Lakewood: Still, with the loan reduction, the budget now appears to have a $43 million hole. The shortfall would represent about 16% of the district's total budget. The newest loan will be added to Lakewood schools’ current debt of $123 million in state aid loans dating back to the 2014-15 school year when it first borrowed $4.5 million.
The district also borrowed $5.6 million in 2016-17; $8.5 million in 2017-18; $28.1 million in 2018-19; $36 million in 2019-20; $54.5 million in 2020-2021; and $24 million in 2022-23.

  1. the real negotiations was never with the Palestinians
The real negotiation was internally among Israelis about what type of people they are to be when this is over.

    1. Not saying noshim is a reaspon for taking down signs but what about the men? The fact that there are unzereh in town who are taking any sign down shows a lack of 'noseh boil'

  5. All those who voted for incumbents and followed the self appointed vaad should not complain when they can't afford to live in Lakewood. This is what you get with corruption even from unzereh who spend tax dollars drunken sailors while enriching themselves and their buddies

  8. As a result of having ZERO cooperation, when the Commissioner does her report, she will likely fault Lakewood taxpayers. The state has been saying this the whole time. Also, this is going on all over the state. See the recent Jersey City filing. It is the fault of local taxpayers. That has ALWAYS been the response.

Had the Vaad, Igud, Township, and our legislative delegation been on the same page, or even disagreed with a few points rather than all, then they would have experts that show that Lakewood real estate prices are overinflated. This would be easy. All you have to do is exhibit how prices increased over the past two decades when community members move into an area. Moreover, we would show that up to one-third of our income goes to education whereas typically it is less than five percent in the state. Instead, all that money we spend is not counted. The state has already said in court that our tax rate is lower than any city. That is because our homes are overinflated. We put ourselves into debt way above our means to live close to one another because of the nature of our religious way of life, protected by the FIRST AMENDMENT,

This is a shame because the report will be filed without allowing us to present witnesses or our own experts. However, the state, in its papers filed on Friday, said that it has been in consultation with the district. In other words, it is in the hands of the BOE to advocate for our homes and livelihood. I will not have access to the people making the report. Yet the people of Lakewood, for some odd reason, chose to keep people on the BOE whose only reply is that they oppose the litigation. This will be in the history books if anyone will be living here over the next century. Of course, IY"H, Meshiach will come by then. Shame. A L
