Segula: This shabbos Krias Hatorah from 3 Parshiyos

Kossover Rebbe
This shabbos  is parshas Tazria, Rosh chodesh and parshas hachodesh a rare occurrence when we  read from 3 different Parshiyos, those that have will take out 3 sifrei torah. A Special Segulah for Yeshuos has been publicized recently from the פרקי היכלות  written by the tannah Rav Yishmael Kohen Gadol, that during Pesichah of  a kriah from 3 seforim there is a special shaar in shamayim that opens up. Others say there is no mekor for the segula mentioned in the pirkei Heichalos but rather there is an Eis Ratzon when you  open the Aron Kodesh.
Rav Elimelech Biderman (Be’er Hachaim, Chanukah, page 125) writes, “The Zohar (206a) teaches that whenever the Aron Kodesh is opened, it is an eis ratzon. We have a direct kabbolah from the Tzemach Tzedek, who heard from his grandfather, the Baal Hatanya, who heard from his rebbe, the Maggid of Mezeritch, who heard from his own rebbe, the Baal Shem Tov, that all prayers and

Hebrew Union College could stop ordaining Reform rabbis in Cincinnati after 147 years

(JTA) — Since 1875, Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati has been minting Reform rabbis — but it may not for much longer.

The board of directors for Reform Judaism’s historic seminary is set to vote next month in New York City on a proposal to stop enrolling rabbinical students in Cincinnati, citing sharply declining enrollment and increased competition from seminaries that are not part of the Reform movement.

Under the proposal, the Cincinnati campus would continue to host the American Jewish Archives, the country’s largest research hub for American Judaism; a library and museum; and, for now, the school’s doctoral program.

A News Photo is to the Truth, what Charlie Chaplin is to Shakespeare

About three weeks ago, someone on a  website must have had a few vodkas before posting the "Picture of the Day" - a photo and caption online, which is actually a fairy tale woven from whole cloth.

A “Farbreng” is a public gathering for introspection. Let’s do that right now.

Pray tell, when R' Louie Scheiner decides to host a parlor meeting for askonim and other prominent people, and someone stops by for a few minutes, to pay his respects to the ba’al achsanyah, how does that morph into a “Rosh Chodesh Adar Chassidishe Farbrengen”?!

לא דובים ולא יער

Anyone who portrays this as something else is full of  baloney.

End of story.

Georgian Court University Selling 42 Acres to BMG

Statement from the GCU president on the land sale of 42 acres to the Lakewood yeshiva Beth Medrash Govoha including some buildings on Lakewood avenue negotiations began 2 years ago the president explained that Lakewood is becoming a center for higher education. Both GCU and BMG, the largest Yeshiva in the world outside of Israel, are focused on the education and advancement of young people to prepare them to enter the workforce and become upstanding citizens and active members of their communities. This sale will contribute to the educational community’s growth, while allowing us to reinvest back into our campus and fuel our growth in enrollment to benefit the community. This "partnership" will also provide Beth Medrash Govoha an opportunity to build new student housing units. These residences may ease the demand for housing, reduce local traffic congestion, and improve current parking shortages in the area.

Statement from the GCU website "Since 1908, Georgian Court University has been guided by the wisdom of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, whose motto was “Resolve to be good today, but better tomorrow.” As we endeavor into our second century of educating caring professionals and shaping whole persons, these words continue to ring true.

Today, I am proud to announce that after nearly two years of carefully considered negotiations, we have reached an agreement to sell some 42 acres of mostly unused land at the edge of our campus, and several administrative buildings along Lakewood Avenue, to our neighbors at Beth Medrash Govoha. As a Catholic university, we are called to be responsible for each other and care for the common good. This mutually beneficial partnership reflects our commitment to this core value and the Mercy tradition, enabling both communities to forge ahead to a better and brighter tomorrow.

NYT Article Upon the Passing of Rav Chaim Kanievsky ZT"L

New York Times article Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Venerated Talmudic Scholar, Dies at 94

by Joseph Berger

Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, one of the greatest Talmudic interpreters of his generation and one of the most revered figures among the world’s ultra-Orthodox Jews, who considered him the leading authority on fine points of Jewish law, died on Friday in the Israeli city of Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv. He was 94.

His death was announced by Agudath Israel of America, the umbrella organization of ultra-Orthodox groups, which did not specify a cause. Rabbi Kanievsky, a soft-spoken man whose furrowed face was framed by a broad but unruly snow-white beard, was particularly venerated by the non-Hasidic branch of Orthodox Judaism that traces its roots to the towering sages and yeshivas of Lithuania in the 18th century if not earlier. Rabbi Kanievsky himself was regarded as such a wise man.

This week the most Rarely read Haftorah of Parshas Tzav

This week the Haftorah for Parshas Tzav is one of the rarest ones since Tzav usually coincides with the week of one of the many special haftaros. Usually parshas Tzav on a regular year comes out on Shabbos Hagadol and we don't read  Tzav's own haftorah of  עֹלותיכם instead we read the special haftorah of 'וערבה'. During a leap year it can be Parshas parah or parshas Zachor and in Yerushalayim it can be Purim.
Even on a regular year there are some minhagim in Yerushalayim not to read the standard Haftorah of Tzav since it is a prophecy of destruction and tochacha from Yirmiyahu Hanavie. Others have a minhag (Gra) only read the haftorah for Tzav shabbos hagadol if it comes out on Erev Pesach.

Purim in Lakewood

- Purim in Lakewood was celebrated joyfully and some of the changes from covid continued. There was noticeably less groups of yeshiva bochurim going around collecting with many yeshivos keeping the bochurim in yeshiva by sponsoring learning programs and having purim mesibos. The traffic was sparse compared to previous years due to the community spreading out to neighboring towns less groups collecting, and people delivering shalach manos on Taanis esther. For the first time Purim was felt in the air in the streets of Manchester with hundreds of families living there. Local gevirim hosted purim parties for the public with singers and musicians inviting everyone to join in while checks were written out for tzedaka. On purim night there were several learning programs in the wedding halls for hundreds of people and in BMG a purim kollel learned from Chatzos to Netz. The new chasidishe neighborhoods hosted purim tishen celebrating simchas purim.

Agudas YIsrael of America : Sar V’gadol Nafal Hayom Hazeh B’Yisroel

With broken hearts and tear-filled eyes we must share the terrible news of the petirah of Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky, zecher tzaddik v’kadosh l’verachah. Rav Chaim’s influence on the Torah world was unparalleled. He was known widely as the Sar HaTorah and was seen as the preeminent Torah authority and posek acharon for Klal Yisroel.

Mah nomar u’mah nedaber. Rav Chaim’s greatness cannot be captured in a few words; our loss is incalculable. This is a time for introspection, when each and every one of us should recognize the special achrayus we have to strengthen ourselves in Torah, to collectively fill in some small measure the terrible void created by the petirah of Maran Rav Chaim.

T’hei nishmaso tzerurah bitzror hachayim.

Rav Gershon Eidelstein shlita  reacts to the tragic news
