  1. Are you all aware that the mayor want to add the property to the no real estate tax zone was just purchased and no unlike what he said was never included in the chambersbridge no real estate tax zone...SO the BIG question is why is the committee allowing this lot to be no tax and in other words saying to all of us I need to do a favor to one of my 'cronies' so I will allow is no taxes. Yes taxes are what WE ALL PAY and the more tax free the more we all pay.

  2. Why cant we also reap the benefits of taxes? There is zero reason to give tax abatements anymore in Lakewood. Brooklyn businesses are opening branches here. We all know the real reason -helping out their friends who own the property and can now flip it for more. This has to stop.

  3. But the mayor and committeemen are reaping benefits now by voting to increase their salaries and triple their compensation on the MUA getting 15k a year for 10 board meetings.

The askanim give the raises and in return expect them to vote and approve the shady deals

  5. Do the taxpayers even matter?March 6, 2022 at 9:58 AM

    Hefkervelt,

The twp isn't just giving the private property owner (of Block 855.01 Lots 16 & 26.01) just a regular tax abatement. Those are good for only 5 years and gradually bring the property into full compliance by requiring payments of 20% year one, 40% year two, and so forth 60%, 80%, 100%.

This guy in the other hand is getting to build a new class A building which will bring up the value of his properties tremendously, but yet he will pay ZERO in property taxes for the next 35 years (besides for minimal joke payments in lieu of taxes) if Ordinance # 2022-015 gets approved at the second reading by our elected committeemen.

Why should other developers of Class A property in town not be given the same benefits? Why do they only receive at most a 5 year abatement, if they're lucky? This guy just picked up these two lots for pennies and a few months later he gets the Committee to redesignate his properties by making them part of the Cedarbridge campus?? Plus the Twp is taking part of its OEM parcel and throwing in for his use a municipally owned free parking lot sized 100 x 180? Even if he builds nothing, he can already flip his properties totaling over 2 acres for millions.

    This stuff is just nuts!!

    3. There's no requirement on the part of the office building owner to hire employees from Lakewood. They can be from Toms River or elsewhere for all he cares.

    4. When cedar bridge got the 30 year tax break, there were no roads, no infrastructure, so insetives were required. These lots are ready to develop. Would be nuts to give them a 30 tax break.

    6. Lot 26.01 didn't exist two years ago! It's a newly created lot from the back two thirds of lots 26&29. Doesn't front line at, and doesn't have street access to pine St, without an easement that the township granted a year ago. No reason in the world that property should be given any tax break. It's not a distressed area at all.

    1. Some think that's a compliment.
Take Adams from New York as an example. He boasts that he is Biden of New York.
It seems Coles Way thinks it's great to be Biden of New Jersey.
