JHS: The Life & Leadership of Rav Eliezer Silver Part I

 By Jewish History Soundbites

One of the architects or American Orthodoxy and perhaps the greatest Orthodox rabbinical leader in that country of the 20th century, Rav Eliezer Silver (1886-1968) had a decisive impact on Jewish life. Through his communal rabbinical leadership, his national leadership on the American scene, through the organizations which he spearheaded and ran for decades, and of course his myriad efforts on behalf of Eastern European Jewry. Having studied under Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski in Vilna, Rav Yosef Rosen the Rogatchover in Dvinsk and Rav Chaim Brisker in Brisk, he then immigrated to the United States at the peak of the great immigration in 1907. He'd later be president of the Agudas Harabbonim, founder of Ezras Torah, founder of Agudath Israel of America, founder and president of Vaad Hatzalah and a constant man of action for almost every Jewish, educational and rescue undertaking during his long career.

Partisan Vote NJ Bill Ends Health Emergency but Murphy Keeps Some Powers

New Jersey’s Democrat-led Legislature on Thursday passed a bill to end the public health emergency brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak. The vote was partisan along party lines  it passed in the senate, 21-16.

The Bill ends over 100 of  Merphy's executive orders in 30 days..but keeps 14 orders thru January 1st and allows him to ask for a 90 day extension of powers in January.

It leaves in place a moratorium on evictions and utility shutoffs, among others The legislation also provides that the state’s face mask and distancing requirements cannot be more restrictive than what the CDC advises. It does, though, allow for more stringent requirements if the state’s COVID-19 hospitalizations spike, the transmission rate rises above 1 or spot positivity increases substantially.

Meanwhile, approximately 300 protesters were joined by Republican officials and legislators including GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli who railed against Trenton’s latest power grab they chanted “kill the bill,” and hoisted signs criticizing Murphy over keeping a mandate for masks in schools in place for now.

Make no mistake, "Phil Murphy has no problem hijacking our democracy and wielding the power of a king while making unilateral decisions without any regard to whom he is impacting".
