We have all heard the devastating news of the 12-story condo that suddenly collapsed in Surfside, Florida this morning. Over a hundred individuals are still unaccounted for, rachmana litzlan.

This is a time for achdus and tefillah for the safety of those still trapped. Our hearts go out for those lost, injured, and for those still awaiting news of their relatives’ status. Agudath Israel joins the larger global community in standing with Surfside.

The following individuals require our tefillos:

Arie Leib ben Ita
Chaim ben Sara
Esther bas Linda
Ita bas Miriam
Leibel ben Feige Rivka
Lein ben Ilana
Malka bas Sara Rochel
Moshe ben Shoshana
Moshe ben Toba
Ruth bas Sarah
Tzvi Doniel ben Yehudis
Yisroel Tzvi Yosef ben Toiba
The Shul of Bal Harbour, under the leadership of Rabbi Shalom Lipskar, has created a central fund to be dispersed as needed directly to the victims and their families at thechesedfund.com/shulofbalharbour/miamitragedy.

The Miami-Dade police department has requested that people aware of individuals unaccounted for or in need of more information about family members call 305-614-1819.

Agudath Israel of Florida, under the leadership of Rabbi Moshe Matz, joins Agudath Israel of America in heartfelt appreciation to the Miami-Dade firefighters, police officers, first responders, volunteers, the Hatzalah of South Florida, and Chesed Shel Emes of Florida, who have been tirelessly working at the scene of the disaster. They also note and appreciate the actions of Governor Ron DeSantis, who immediately flew to Surfside to pledge his support and assistance to the community.

While the reasons for Hashem’s actions are sometimes beyond us, how we respond to them defines us.

  1. UPCOMING ELUL ZMAN UPDATE
    JUNE 20TH, 2021
Choshuve Roshei Yeshiva, Menahalim and Menahalos,
    Shalom Aleichem!
In response to the many questions being directed to the offices of the Igud, and in response to many
unfounded rumors which have been circulating, we would like to clarify:
    1. In terms of next zman, according to what has been agreed upon with the staff of the Ministry of the
Interior and the Ministry of Health at present, entering Israel for Elul will be approved only for
vaccinated individuals with a vaccination certificate and recovered individuals with documentation of
illness (certificate of a positive COVID test during their illness).
    2. Due to the high level of caution which the Ministry of Health has adopted due to the concern over
allowing COVID variants into Israel, presently, there is no approval for recovered individuals who do
not have documentation of a positive COVID test (even if they do have a letter from a doctor or a
    positive serology / antibody test).
    3. There is a possibility that the Ministry of Health will approve entry for those with antibodies, but that
might not happen till Elul or later. We therefore advise all students who can vaccinate and wish to be
certain that they will be admitted to Israel, to vaccinate immediately.
    4. Students who do not wish to vaccinate and do not have documentation of a positive COVID test but
have positive serology (antibodies) results, will need to wait to get a final answer about their ability
to enter the country. The Igud staff is working to broaden this approval to include also those with just
positive serology tests. If this advocacy is successful earlier, we will notify everyone immediately.
    5. Students who do not have vaccinations and have not had COVID will not be allowed into the country.
    6. As of now, anyone with a student visa will be able to come in/return.
    7. Any news indicating that students will be able to enter under conditions other than those specified
here is mistaken. Such rumors are not being published by the Igud, and the Igud takes no
    responsibility for them.
    Sincerely,
    The Igud
