Sloatsburg – As in previous years, travelers making their way up to the Catskills on Thursday nights will be able to stop for Mincha and Maariv or grab a kosher snack at the Sloatsburg Rest Area.
The Tefilos Mordche Mincha Area, named in memory of Rabbi Mordche Friedman who established the minyan area 15 years ago, will be open every week throughout the summer on Thursdays, from 5 to 11 p.m. It is located on the northbound Thruway between exits 15A and 16.
Rabbis Abe and Joel Friedman, the sons of the Mincha area founder
who run it today, ask that travelers park only on the upper level of the parking lot to create the least disturbance to other travelers. They also request that travelers only daven in the designated Mincha area and not in any other locations in the parking lot.
Vending machines on the upper level parking lot will be stocked with kosher food.
This whole thing is convenient but not nessecary. Every one of the mispallelim really could daven prior to leaving or at their destination.
ReplyDeleteIt would also be convenient if you refrained from making comments. They're interesting but not really necessary.
DeleteLearning correct spelling though, might yes be necessary.
AMEN!
Deleteofcourse its possible to make other arrangements , however its a big limud zechuz to see yidden stoppiing for mincha or mariv whats amazing is that the majority are " Regular working yidden " who could easily be moreh heter ... loh nene.. beshaas mincha - yes we need to be sensitive to the neighbors
DeleteDid anyone really ask you?
DeleteIf it is not necessary for you, that does not make a non-necessity for other people!
It's not just for mincha it's for maariv too. So if you leave Brooklyn 8:30 and get to your bungalow at 11:30 there wouldn't be a minyan. So one of the many reasons it's very needed.
ReplyDeleteBy the way it was started years back but it was shut down by the state police, for many reasons, people parked on the exit shoulder which caused traffic, many started selling food watches and it was a whole shuk. The stores in the rest area didn't like it, and there was a huge mess.
Ultimately r' Friedman prevailed to reopen, and he personally guaranteed it would be okay. He spent hours every Thursday night running the whole thing.
The whole thing about yiddelach making minyanim wherever 10 people might find themselves, chasunahs, chol hamoed trips, sport stadium etc, is not l'fi ruach of how tefilla should be.
ReplyDelete(You can call it the lacetop of tefilla, technically kosher but no b'ruach tznius)
It's missing some basic concepts that davening need, kvius, beis knesses. I'm not even getting into halacha issues of davening in an open area, not conducive to kavana.
If anyone has a chashivus for tefilla, it should be done in a shul
Learn the halachos of hoilech drachim. This is not a kevius. Just because you use fancy Hebrew words, doesn't make you correct nor smarter.
DeleteIn that case let them say הביננו and be done with it.
DeleteThe halachos of holchei drachim are for people who spend days on the road, not someone taking a 3 hour trip to the mountains.
There is no reason to be meikil in tefilla when it is very easy to find minyanim in the city and the mountains in a proper setting.
It is also possible to stop for Davening in Kiryas Joel Multiple.Minyanim For Shachris , Mincha and Mariv
ReplyDeleteThere is a Large Parking lot also
And 20 min off the highway
DeleteCovid poskim said that because of Eiva it's OSSUR to make a minyan. This surely causes Aivoh.
ReplyDeleteSo stay locked in your house forever so no goy should ever see you. You're an eiva among Jews, so much more among goyim.
DeleteThere are halachic issues with this too. One is not supposed to daven outside, one is supposed to daven in a Shul.
ReplyDeleteAnd if people actually learned halacha, they would know that leaving NY at 8:30 has a halacha for it too. They should daven before they leave, biyechidus if necessary.
The whole American idea of bus minyanim and street minyanim is not halachically correct.
And I find it amazing that Chassidim, who brought u the idea of learning before davening, who teach us that davening is a serious matter not something to get over and done with, are the ones behind this. Is this what we think the Rebbe Reb Meilech would have done? Can you imagine a tefilla of the Tzemach Tzedek looking like this?
And there you have it. You just hate chasidim.
DeleteAnd there you have it. You just hate halacha.
DeleteMaskim!!
ReplyDeleteThe opposite...he isbshowing how the Real Chassidim of Previous Generationas Like R Meilech and The Tzemwch Tzedek Valued Tefila
ReplyDeleteI love chassidim and wish they would come do something like this in WG so the kids will have where to daven.
ReplyDeleteWhy not build a Mega Building across the street from Westgate at Lutzk that can hold 1000 to 2000 Mispalilim
ReplyDeleteThere is plenty of room and Land over there
Because that won’t satisfy the kvetchers. They want to kvetch
ReplyDeleteAnd the other people want to stop a shul with an ehrliche Ruv from being built! Personally I prefer kvetching over stopping a shul.
