It’s ironic that the very same frum news media outlets, which passionately defended their advertising for Eretz Hakodesh by claiming it was necessary to bring in financial support for yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, had no problem running ads for an organization calling on frum Jews to STOP supporting those very same yeshivos. Yes, that's exactly what happened. You might ask, how could this be?
Well, they ran banner ads for "Holy Chutzpah," a cynical and hostile campaign urging people to stop inadvertently funding yeshivos that boycott the IDF and ban soldiers. The campaign calls on donors to "check before you give."
On social media, the campaign mocks the frum lifestyle, portraying it as hypocritical—living a life of mitzvos while supporting yeshivos that oppose chayalim. It even labels donations to such yeshivos a "Ponzi scheme."
Here’s what’s written on their website:
"Here’s the truth: Many well-branded yeshivos hide the fact that they actively boycott the IDF and ban students who choose the mitzvah of defending Am Yisroel.
It is absurd for someone like you to be funding them.
Torah and Achdus are both sacred, however, they don’t need to be at the expense of your religious values or sanity.
While all Jews deserve your love, not all institutions deserve your donations."
DON’T BE A SUCKER. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Don’t allow yourself to be scammed into funding Torah institutions that go against your religion and your ideology. Ignorance or an inferiority complex are not justifications to be bullied into doing something against your true Torah values. It’s time to stand up for what you believe in and put your money where your mouth is."
These ads were distributed by a frum ad content aggregator, which sends advertisements to frum media platforms and websites. They were quickly pulled after a public outcry. Could it have been a mistake? Possibly. But a serious mistake doesn’t just happen—it suggests a prior agreement to run these ads.
This follows the call by gedolei roshei yeshiva to boycott publications and media outlets that advertised the Eretz Hakodesh campaign calling it a churban of what they are doing, by legitimizing zionisim and attempting to change the face of the Jewish people and bnei Torah. As the Roshei yeshiva said its time to put them out of business.
The role of frum media has always been to filter out non-kosher content from secular media. However, it seems that these platforms have now become vehicles for promoting anti-Torah agendas and hashkafos that go against the values and lifestyle of the frum, charedi readership.
Some chutzpah.
Fraudulent screed post, whatever your personal opinion re: vote EHK
ReplyDeleteThese same outlets promote just about every bad topic under the sun.
Ipso it wasn't the same people at all.If the outlet was wrong, name & castigate the outlet alone for their continuous lack of scruples
What's fraudulent? Please be clear.
DeleteI’m not a pro or anti wzo just a Stan person in Lakewood who really doesn’t care about it one bit! Just why why do you NEED to post something about it EVERY SINGLE DAY?!?! I stopped looking at hefkervelt as much because I like the fact it was just all you need short and to the point not its just another agenda website.
ReplyDeleteBecause they haven't seen this kind of feedback since covid.
DeleteWhen they discuss road closings, they have 12 comments. Irrelevant foolishness like EHK gets them more than 100.
But the in-your-face EVERY SINGLE DAY posts from these advertisers didn't and doesn't bother you?
DeleteI call your bluff.
I said that’s why I liked hefkervelt because you don’t see the crazy ads and stuff but now here too your getting it…
DeleteSo go away, hefkervelt has been the same from day one. Tell us the real reason you're suddenly affected by hefkervelt presenting the other side of ehk spin machine?
Delete4:52,
DeleteWE Agree
Hefkervelt goes out its way to spread an ad that was pulled and most of us never would have seen but then complains about other people running it for money. They do it for money. Hefker does it because it enjoys riling up those who have too much anger in their lives who can be trusted to express some in this area. They say they don’t take responsibility for the kasrus of haskafa of their ads. Hefkervelt makes it sound like they spread this l’shem shamayim. Who is the Vaad Haruchni over hefekervelt?
ReplyDeleteFortunately this a site that doesn't have a Vaad.Fortunately
DeleteI have never seen these ads, but the way internet ads work, the owner of the website has little control over them.
ReplyDeleteMany frum blogspots used to have ads for Jews 4 J and other terrible organizations. Its the algorithm, there's nothing to be done about it.
These ads are not through google. They're through a media/advertising company which the websites contract with. If these contracts indeed promote all sorts of destruction, then we should indeed steer clear of websites who contract with these media/advertising companies.
DeleteAnon 5:16 these ads came from the Jewish network that pays the websites. They know good and well what goes on and if they don't that's a bad sign as they have no guard or standards to call themselves frum
DeleteTheres ads come the the JCN ad network which has a partnership with every big jewish news outlet.
DeleteAnd if you think these ads were a mistake, jokes on you.
They manually approve every single ad.
Don't forget JCN rejected ads for eitz aligned tzedakas.
DeleteBeware of the current campaign that was orchestrated to fool the frum community of Lakewood and other cities in New Jersey.
ReplyDeleteThey are running a highly mobilize campaign to elect liberal Democrat Josh Gottheimer this is not even the general election but the PRIMARIES.
The campaign hired a frum media liason and they are attempting to have the Lakewood community REGISTER AS DEMOCRATS in order to vote for Josh in the primary. Most of Lakewood is registered republican.
They launched cutsey videos are using all printed media social media and watsapp administrators to fool and convince everyone that this is THE ONLY CHOICE.
This has NEVER happened before that the frum community would actively get involved in this way to shape the outcome of a general governor election race.
They are covering up his liberal LGBT agenda and pro Toava legislation
Or the fact that he impeached President Trump.
There are no known rabbonim backing this political stunt that can potentially put the frum yidden in Sakana
Shame on those who are pushing this dangerous campaign
Rabbisei watch outwe must put a stop to this immediately.
Theres nothing wrong with registering as a democrat to mitigate to vote in the primary to mitigate the risk of who ends up on the democrat ticket.
DeleteBut there's a bigger factor at play here. 1. Avi schnall is runs a dem. There more registered Dems, the more if a chance he gets votes because people are stupid and for some reason will lean to vote with the party the are registered.
2. Avi schnall can't run advertisments in the general with the other candidates, they are too liberal. He could piggy back off of gottheimer for campaign money and votes.
Be smart.
It's Avi Schnalls campaign too he can't ask everyone to vote him in the primary as most of Lakewood are Republicans so they are scaring everyone into voting Gottheimer without even telling you that Jack Ciattarelli has a chance.
DeleteAnd Herman was also Schnalls campaign manager until Schnall kinda distance himself when a article came out about some involvement with Rise Up Ocean county although it wasn't proven
We are in golus and guests here we don't need to call such attention in a primary election
DeleteThis is all paid for by the gottheimer campaign and we have to be smart not to fall int the trap
Yes even if CBN tries to convince you.
What a sad situation that these people have appointed themselves to represent the klal
However, Gottheimer’s progressive stances—particularly his advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and abortion access—pose challenges in securing support from Lakewood’s conservative Orthodox community. Despite these ideological differences, Herman believes the community may prioritize economic issues over social policies.
DeleteNo way to know if this is true or accurate
Deletehttps://www.shorenewsnetwork.com/2024/02/07/condemned-website-that-facilited-multi-million-dollar-settlements-in-toms-river-jackson-was-an-inside-job
On Wednesday, Schnall acknowledged that the operator worked on his campaign in 2023, adding “[He] does not work for my office and has nothing to do with my office. He is not paid by my office. I don’t know what happened over there.”
Schnall said he was unaware of the person’s involvement with Rise Up Ocean County.
Are they implying that the RUOC website was an inside job red flag operation set up by unzere????
DeleteThat's a letter, not a news article
DeleteBut the story may still be true.
Is the excuse the anti-semites are giving that they were provoked by Jews? Great excuse.
The source of this specific ad is from the modox anglo isralei community, think nathan slifkin types. Know who you're friends are.
ReplyDeleteThere is an old saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity" Dear Mr. HEfkervelt ,please reconsider before posting this stuff . No one ever heard of these guys till you posted it .
ReplyDeleteCan't be worse than Eretz Hakodesh
DeleteThere's a chiyuv to show this it us the only way to call out the fake frum media
DeleteShould be left up. Remember when Rav Dov Landau complained about a certain gaza war askan trying to bring bridge the charedim with people serving in the idf? This is the ugly reality of the other side of the that outreach.
DeleteNot sure where all these commenters complaining about hefkervelt live (unless they're ehk/jcn supporters), this has been all the rage in the yeshiva world lately, which is what hefkervelt reports on. No reason its coverage shouldn't reflect what everyone is talking about. If you don't appreciate their editorial stance you're welcome to find a frum outlet that does, there are plenty to choose from.
ReplyDeleteHefkervelt can and does take whatever position it wants. I sure hope no one views it or the comments on it (this one included) as pure and correct Torah haskafa. The reason why this particular post was so successful at eliciting so much outrage is because it was clearly designed to.
DeleteDaas Torah said to boycott anyone not listening is a kofer b'ikur
ReplyDeleteDT also insists on you boycotting the internet
DeleteThe excuse of the internet is assur is always brought up when they can't defend the actual issue
DeleteI didn't realize their was a sanhedrin today, statements like yours is why Rav Moshe Soloveichik said his father Rav Chaim Brisker opposed agaudah, because they were trying to recreate the sanhedrin. he also had a letter from Rav Chaim that if he was younger he would fight agudah like he fought the zionists earlier
DeleteI never use the "why are on the internet" argument but this is an exception. The hypocrisy of those calling for media bans while ignoring long standing existing ones and the hypocrisy of using a banned media venue to demand other media bans is too glaring to ignore
DeleteWow it's scary that there are people actively working on convincing others to stop supporting yeshivos.
ReplyDeleteהנוגע בהר מות יומת וכל שכן בתורה עצמה
"The Yeshiva world" and Hefkervelt's editors/commenters love "daas Torah", except for when it comes to Adirei, the Vaad, Aguda, when Rav Chaim Kanievsky said something they don't like etc.
ReplyDeleteThe frum media is mostly modox and liberal left they can't hear any other opinions its funny how they yell cancel culture when they've been guilty of it
ReplyDeleteBullies can dish it out but can't take it
They got exposed and people are calling them out
Their control is over
I'm confident you do not get the irony of your own post....LOL
DeleteOn the topic of CANCEL CULTURE
ReplyDeletehttps://cross-currents.com/2025/03/27/the-moetzes-at-a-crossroads/
I love how the anti EH crowd are crying that they are being bullied.
ReplyDeleteMany Rabbanim who believe in voting have silenced themselves, including Reb Elya Brudny. But they still tell us that the 'other side' has limitless resources. DOes EH have the ability to gather a crowd in a Yeshiva? Do they have the lack of scruples that allows people to threaten a machlokes if they don't get their way?
EH launched a media campaign, and there's nothing wrong with them presenting their opinion.
The anti-EH crowd bullied and attacked.
Of course, this has no bearing on the issue at hand. But it shows us who is who.
Belz
ReplyDeleteapparently is supporting the Likud faction of WZO
for the record, BElz and Sanz joined the sefardi education network after being denied Chinuch ATzmai, "Al apom" of he Aguda and R landau
So much for their professed anti-Zionism
DeleteSkip EHK,supporting an essentially secular zionist party
Where is the RY outcry
( In Europe,it so happens they made similar sort of shady deals with the neologs )
