The Orthodox Jewish community makes up an estimated two-thirds of Lakewood’s 140,000 residents. Community leaders say there are more than 5,000 Orthodox Jewish families in Jackson, another 2,000 in Toms River and smaller enclaves in Brick, Manchester and Howell.

A chalitzah ceremony took place this past week in Baltimore, performed by Rav Chaim Pass, Rosh Yeshivas Heichal Tzvi Aryeh and a Son in law by Rav Meir Tzvi Bergman. Rav Chaim Pass’s brother, Reb Asher Anshel Pass, of Baltimore, was niftar , leaving behind no children Rav Moshe Heinemann and other dayanim presided over the ceremony.

ReplyDeleteReb Yoel Rabin spending Shabbos in Manchester is highly appropriate. His grandfather, Reb Gedalya Rabinovitch of Gidulei Hekdesh, was one of the great Talmidei Chachamim of Manchester, whose son was the late Reb Lipa of Manchester.
