The israeli edition of Yated Ne'eman' today quoted the words of Rav Dov Lando last night against the World Zionist Organization: "It is forbidden to participate in the Zionist Organization, which is entirely kefira against Hashem and against a the holy nation to Hashem. Voting in elections is a very severe prohibition and those who can must cancel their vote."
"אסור להשתתף בהסתדרות הציונית שכולה כפירה בהשם ובעם קדוש להשם. להצביע בבחירות זה איסור חמור מאוד ומי שיכול חייב לבטל את הצבעתו
There can be no compromise with shmad of the Zionists
ReplyDeleteSilly comment, 8:45. We're trying to lessen the shmad by taking away funding from the shmadists
ReplyDeleteExactly
DeleteIf you are talking about shmad I heard from a Talmid of R’ Aron Kotler speaking in support of voting in the WZO elections that R’ Aron Kotler said that the kanoim are responsible for the Chillul Shabbos and shmad of thousands of Israeli children by not voting. (That Talmid is currently a MO Rabbi. Even he does not consider himself to be a reliable source about what R’ Aron Kotler would have said about anything)
ReplyDeleteHuge, huge difference.
DeleteSince Torah Yidden are blessed to reside in Eretz Yisroel, they don't have to give up all their rights to the anti-Torah groups.
The WZO doesn't run Eretz Yisroel. They're simply a group predicates upon ר"ל Torah not being what makes Yidden a nation and have replaces it with something else.
Joining the WZO for a few bucks is ludicrous, dangerous and rebellious.
How is this any different than all those who join to take from the UJA?
DeleteEven assuming they were accurate assessments of the situation (I'm not) all the huge, huge differences that I'm hearing seem very arbitrary. None of them are based on clear maareh mokomos from Gemora and Rishonim. And historically the distinctions made by Gedolim between when you can and when you can't join the Zionists did change depending on external circumstances.
