Israel at war day 518
President Trump on Palestinian civilians:
“The Israeli hostages told me that out of hundreds of Palestinians they met in Gaza, they didn't come across a single person that was kind to them. They were slapped and punched.”
- Yisrael Hayom: President Trump is aligned with PM Netanyahu in demanding that Hams not be allowed to remain in Gaza at the end of the war. This is different from what was the case under the Biden administration and is a critical position for Israel.
- Washington Post reports that the US is seeking the release of hostage IDF soldier Idan Alexander and several other hostages in exchange for extending the ceasefire by two months and resuming humanitarian aid to Gaza. Hams hasn't responded yet to this offer.
- IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has decided IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Daniel Hagari will end his position in the coming weeks and retire from the IDF. Zamir determined that Hagari would not be promoted to major general.
- White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller just said on Fox News that as soon as tomorrow, the White House will publish the steps universities must take to end the pro-Hamas riots. He said if they do not comply, they will lose federal funding.
- President Trump: I sent a letter to the leader of Iran. I emphasized that I prefer to negotiate; they must not have nuclear weapons
- Israel Defense Minister Katz on the massacre committed in Syria: “Al Jalani took off his Galabia Arab dress) and put on a suit and presented a moderate face - now he has taken off his mask and revealed his true face: a jihadist terrorist from the Al-Qaeda seminary who commits atrocities against the civilian population. Israel will defend itself against any threat from Syria. We will remain in the security zones and on Mount Hermon and defend the Golan and Galilee communities.
We will keep southern Syria demilitarized from weapons and threats and protect the Druze population living there - whoever harms them will be harmed by us.
