Israel at war day 512
- Minutes after midnight and following a four-hour security consultation with top officials, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office declared that it was endorsing what it described as a proposal by US President Donald Trump’s special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, which would see the ceasefire with Hamas extended through Ramadan and Pesach during which all hostages could potentially be released.
According to Israel’s account of Witkoff’s proposal, half of the remaining hostages — living and dead — would be released on the first day of the extended ceasefire, and the remaining captives would be released at the end of the period if a permanent ceasefire is reached. Hamas has yet to accept.
- Secretary of State Marco Rubio has used his emergency authorities to expedite the delivery of approximately $4 billion in military assistance to Israel.
- The Trump admin has authorized a nearly $3 billion weapons package for the IDF.
The main deal includes 36,000(!) Mark 84 and BLU-117 aerial bombs, as well as 4,000 I-2000 bunker-penetrating warheads.
In addition, Israel will purchase 4,800+ BLU-110A/B 1,000-pound bombs, along with 5,000 JDAM guidance kits, designed to convert "dumb" bombs into precision-guided munitions
- Prime Minister Netanyahu has instructed the IDF to prepare to defend the Syrian Druze community of Jaramana (suburb of Damascus) currently under attack by Syrian forces.
The Prime Minister reinforced: "We will not allow the terrorist regime of radical Islam in Syria to harm the Druze. If the regime harms the Druze - it will be harmed by us."
