- The lawyer fighting for Lakewood was promised a chance to meet with the Vaad to explain where we are at in the litigation. It was a no brainer to get their support. As if someone discovered oil in the North Seas, by way of mashul, and appeared before the board of Shell Oil, and they would reject the exploration thereof? Already the Majority Leader of the Senate, and Appropriations Committee Chairman are asking the Commissioner, "How much" for Lakewood. The governor is pulling her strings, and ostensibly those of the AG. As it turned out, the Vaad made their endorsements without having that meeting. And it was not until a few days later that it was revealed on Friday that some of them met with the governor in which he expressed his vehement opposition to the litigation, which of course, everyone knew about since his AG is the adversary in Court. Of course he opposed it but as Lakewood public servants, they should be defending it. That is how the system works. You compromise and settle. Had the lawyers been informed of this meeting, they would have advised the community leaders to convince the governor to settle and for how much. The governor cannot afford to have the SFRA ruled unconstitutional as applied to any district, as it truly is as applied to Lakewood. But since everything in Lakewood has to be secret and behind the back of those most intimately involved, nay opposed to those most involved, instead of defending our cause, they acquiesced to the governor. No matter, it won't affect the outcome anyway. They are just a nuisance, like little children playing childish games.(Submitted via comment)

  1. altz hakaros hatov due to my HUD matter, I will follow the lead of the Vaad, plus its a win win with Aguda Daas Torah certainly not against Reb Schnalls candidacy. In addition the Republicans are in the minority so they cant do anything to us, my gantz mishpacha will vote the Vaad.

  2. A member of moetzes told me that the oilam should vote against schnall but he can't say it publicly because they're afraid of the adirei hatorah.

  3. The moetzes members were all forced to sign on something they have no interest of or know anything about it.
This move to put a yid in Trenton goes against everything out roshei yeshiva and mesorah has taught us.
If covid taught us anything is that signatures are meaningless as askanim have bullied rabbonim into signing only for them to flip flop when the truth was presented to them.

The olam will not be fooled or scared of loosing a kollel check.
Haahem has other ways to support youngeleit.

Who is taking achrayus on the sinas Yisrael already unleashed in Ocean county

The promise that shnall will get vouchers is laughable as the democrats oppose it. Even if Phil Murphy promised something he could possibly face a republican majority and won't be a long term solution and only make it worse for us down the road.
When Chris Christie offered vouchers for Lakewood the almighty vaad voted against him because Corzine pledged money to the well connected.

There is zero trust from the tzibbur in this campaign of lies and deception
What a shame that this is happening again to the Lakewood kehila
It turns out the new regime is just as guilty

    1. And Christie took revenge on the town, but not the power brokers. It was the simple folk that paid the price of the missteps of the power brokers.

I have never found a trustworthy askan. Maybe there are other askanim that are different, but 100% of the ones I have known personally are absolutely useless.

    2. So our gedolim are forced to do what xyz wants them to do.
So why are they gedolim? Because they wear Shmoinehe begadim?
Thus we have no gedolim. Period.
Just explaining the ongezesteh guys comment.

    3. 3:20PM: trustworthy askan -- did you pay him a substantial retainer? If not, he's not looking out for you. Even a lawyer with a fat retainer will not necessarily look out for you.

    1. The liaison is getting a huge raise totaling an eye popping 150K per year, with a 2 year contract, for an easy crony job that shouldn’t even get his original 75K.

  5. The reason the funding formula for schools is so flawed is due to politics. The Governors, from both parties, the state lawmakers and all involved parties wish to keep the large voting blocs of Jersey City, Camden and others on their side. Any change will cost them money.

What can they do? They are losing in court, and they will be forced to increase the funding for Lakewood considerably.

They have an eitza, they have figured out a typical political solution. You 'varf ah beindel' to some askonim, giving them what they want, for relatively low bucks. That removes the lawsuit and prevents any change from actually happening.

A vague promise of widening the 9, with no actual plans, and they are off the hook. Perhaps a hint of vouchers (something that will never happen in our lifetime), and a few dollars for pet projects, and the problem has disappeared.

But we should know better than that. There is no project that will affect and assist as many people as changing the funding formula. Even if widening the 9 may happen, many people will gain. But the benefit of changing the school funding formula is greater.

Remember, nobody has YOUR interests in mind. Vote for what is good for you, not for what is good for someone else. Virtually everyone in town will gain from the Lang suit, vote for his representatives.

    1. Very articulate. The candidates are not my representatives. By law, they will not be able to talk to me on BOE matters. They will be the representatives of Lakewood, who IY"H will consciously act in the public interest to the best of thier ability. A L

  6. Ned Thompson - please show me what you have done so far to get us vouchers were you not in office 5+ years how about Senator Singer 30 years?

    1. Luz up!

You are not getting vouchers anyway. They are dangling vouchers in front of you to distract you from that which you can really achieve.
