Police: Yesterday afternoon, 34 year old Shawn Frederick entered the 7-11 located at 200 River Avenue Lakewood wielding a metal pipe. He then advanced toward the store clerk who was standing behind the sales counter. Once at the counter he gestured the pipe toward the clerk in a menacing manner with the intent to intimidate or cause fear. The clerk attempted to walk away but the suspect paralleled him on the outside of the counter forcing him to retreat back to his original position. Frederick then climbed over the counter and took two packs of cigarettes before fleeing the store. Responding officers located Frederick a short distance away and arrested him without incident. He was subsequently charged with robbery and weapon related offenses and transported to the Ocean County Jail

ReplyDeleteWe just filed a motion in aid of litigants' rights in the Appellate Division. The Acting Commissioner has expanded the scope of her remand.
More than seven months after the court’s constitutional ruling and specific remand, the Acting Commissioner has produced nothing of relevance, just delay. She persists in claiming that a “comprehensive review” of the Lakewood School District’s operations, originally ordered by her on July 16, 2021, for another purpose and apparently never even begun (despite a May 12, 2023, letter stating she ordered the NJDOE to “expedite”), is somehow necessary for her to address the court’s specific remand instruction regarding SFRA’s constitutionality. (The events of the last two weeks, by information and belief, indicate to me that there are some political considerations at the highest level of state government for the brazen delay.)
