  1. We have been inundated with ads about 'tuition relief', as though tuition was a gassy stomach that required Tums.

When you read a little about the platform, one that is highly unlikely to pass, we see a different story.

They are only trying to pass a law allowing people to deduct the money spent on tuition from taxes. Meaning, the only people that will gain from them are the upper middle class and above. The rest of us, who don't end up using the charity tax deduction, will gain quite little from this.
Kollel Yungeleit will certainly not gain too much, neither will Rebbeim who anyway don't pay taxes on their childrens' schooling.

Bekitzur, the 'tzibur' should vote to make the rich richer. And they tell you that they are working for you..........................

    1. You are incorrect. When people get relief from taxes, they give a lot more tzedaka to the schools. When that happens, the schools are much more reasonable to those who can't afford tuition.

The idea to of fighting against an הצלה פורתא is simply evil and will most definitely hurt the tzibbur.

    2. So what you're saying is that all the rabbanim that apparently endorsed him heard the same argument yet came out with different results. We had rabbainim signing about closing shuls during covid yet they all privately said otherwise. This sham of rabbanim signing continues. How do these politicians manage to threaten them? What stick are they waiving? It's time we support our rabbanim so they can stand up to the aggression and manipulation and they can speak their minds freely.

    3. It seems to me that folks who actually pay tuition will get the benefit. Why give a benefit to someone who doesn't pay private tuition?

    4. The way this is supposed to work is that you can support a scholarship and get a tax credit. Those credits will be limited and controlled by a "Vaad". This will do nothing to help the community at large.

    5. I actually think that it is only corporations and not individuals who can use the deductions. Most people do pay at least a small amount of income tax to NJ. The idea is that if corporations can make large donations to schools instead of paying taxes the frum ones all will. This in turn will increase the schools cash flow and enable them to lower tuition. I don't it happening to the the degree that will make a significant change for anyone but that is a side point.

    6. Of course it were the other way around (like it usually is) and the middles class was going to be stuck with an even larger bill but those who live off matnas bosor v'dom would be getting even more , you would still expect the middle class to vote for it.

    7. Just because schools get more does not mean they will lower tuition or pay their teachers a living wage as it stands now however you compute they're making a very large profit margin let's wake up and realize that the schools of today are not the schools of yesterday which struggled to make ends meet.

    8. If you have what to gain from tuition relief, aka tax write-off for tuition, vote for it by all means. Those who don't stand to gain from it, should not.

There is no reason that the entire town should vote as a bloc.

And the idea that more money for the rich means more Tzedaka is just laughable. There is enough money wasted in town, that Tzedaka receives exactly as much as it is a priority. Nothing to do with tax breaks. Many rich people give nothing to Tzedaka, and many people who have less, still give lots.

    9. There is no reason that the entire town should vote as a bloc.

What a selfish thing to say.

All your pie in the sky theories question the vote, but do zilch for us.

    10. Why is it selfish to say we shouldn't vote as a bloc? I think it is a lot more selfish to demand that I vote against the way I feel I should because someone who never asked me for input, never addressed my concerns etc. said I should

    1. There terrorists are not dumb unfortunately they outsmarted Israel and view had everything planned out for a long time. You have to know who you are fighting

    2. They penetrated a highly sophisticated wall, bypassed multiple levels of security plans, and had free foam for hours. That is smart. Saying they're smart isn't supporting them, it's telling Israel they underestimate the enemy.
