  1. That scary word - illegals. The scary 'illegals' who were dropped off. Who knows what they will do to us?

Meanwhile, some poor migrants, desperate to make a life for themselves, have pushed themselves into America, and if left to their devices will be an asset to the country.

    3. Who did Rav Yaakov say that to? The US accepts half of the worlds immigrants. Did Sedom give half the worlds tzedoka too?

    4. Rav Yeruchem Levovitz was speaking at a time when the US allowed almost ZERO immigrants , let alone provided them or their children with benefits. That has nothing to do with the contemporary US debate on immigration. Even the most hostile to immigration politicians today would have been considered immigration advocates at the time he wrote it

    6. There is no evidence that the undocumented community is more dangerous to the USA than the citizens. But some wish to whip some xenophobia, cloaked in 'fear of spies'. But the truth is, the same people, when in power, fight legal immigration too. The country desperately needs immigrants, but the xenophobes and the haters don't care about the country, only their bigotry.

By all means, make it easier to immigrate legally while preventing illegal immigration. Stop incentivizing illegal immigration if you truly care about the spies and criminals.

I'm not very anti immigration but I'm sure that the people making all those self righteous condemnatory comments against those who oppose immigration, aren't working at jobs that immigrants put at risk, aren't living in neighborhoods that are in danger of becoming overridden with them, aren't living in a municipality that is being put in fiscal danger by them or making any other sacrifice for immigrants.

    1. A respected Rav in Brooklyn, a respected Rav in Los Angeles, and the most responsible Beis Din in Lakewood gave the Heter.

Not one of the ossrim contacted these Mattirim to find out what the heter was based on.

The person did the responsible thing, he went to a Rav, who sent him to a Beis Din, and all agreed that it is muttar. He is doing nothing wrong.

Sadly, two groups of people got together to fight it. Some are personally insulted, others don't like one of the Dayanim and are using this story to punch him.

But the worst of all is that people are opining without knowing which Siman in Shulchan Aruch to find these things, signing letters that say nothing, and making tumults for the fun of it.

You are not telling the truth. The respected Rov in Brooklyn put out a letter the week before the wedding and said he takes back his heter due to the fact he was not aware of certain facts at the time of his heter. (Which is one of the points Reb Bloch talks about)

The Rov in LA signed against the heter. So did almost every other Rov and Rosh HaYeshiva. Including ALL the Roshei Hayeshiva of Lakewood along with Rabbi Heineman. Nobody in LA was even willing to be mesader kedushin.

Rabbi Feurst, Reb Reuven, Reb Elya Ber, Reb Shlomo Miller etc. all put out letters, knowing the facts, saying there was no legitimate heter.

The letter from the BMG Roshei Haeyshiva and Reb Heineman seems to apply there was no ligit heter offered by any Beis Din at all. And if there was such a heter, they should have released the psak b'ksav so nobody will be meorer on this wedding or those who took part in it.

    5. So much to unpack.
I have not seen a letter from Rabbi Feurst.
The letter from Reb Reuven says that he does not know on what the heter is based.
The letter from the Roshei Yeshiva and Reb Moshe Heineman also says that.
Rabbi Farbstein says that he would not sign the heter, according to hearsay. Nothing more than that.
The Rav in LA signed on a different story. In the story, as he was brought to the Beis Din, he is fully with the Heter, as is Rabbi Forcheimer.
Rabbis Bromberg, Miller and Vachtofgel did not speak to the Beis Din at all.

And anyone who doesn't have a bone in any fights can give witness that the Beis Din is one of the most responsible around, who spend hours and energy finding out the facts of everything they pasken. Sadly, when you do something good, you build enemies. Everyone who wasn't allowed to ignore Beis Din takes it out on them.

Are you also on the Chosson's payroll? I happen to know some other people who he hired for this heter as well. For real!!

The letter from Rabbi Feurst was signed by about a dozen others, including the Rov from LA. It was a detailed letter refuting the entire basis for any heter.

The letter from Reb Reuven is a direct attack against the heter of the Rov from NY. He only says that the he assumes the beis din, if they were matir, must have some other heter he is not aware of. (Which they don't)

The letter from the BMG Roshei Hayeshiva was a protest, a to be politically correct they deny that any Beis Din was actually matir.

Rabbi Miller is officially affiliated with that beis din. Do you actually think he wrote at least two letters without knowing the background behind the heter?!? Are you accusing Reb Elya Ber as the same?!?

Did any beis din write a clear psak? If not, then we can assume there was no heter at all, as the BMG Roshei Hayeshiva wrote with Rabbi Heineman.

And Reb DC's last letter also was l'issur.

And why wouldn't any LA Rov be mesader if they agreed to a heter?

    7. I would like to respectfully reply to the fellow "unpacking", as he does wonders to illustrate the core problem with this whole story and how the hetter was given.
He claims Rabbi Forcheimer was mattir. This could very well be true. However, Rabbi Forcheimer himself has denied this on numerous occasions, and he certainly has not signed a hetter or written a tshuva explaining any basis for the hetter.
It would also seem strange and highly unplausible that the BMG rosh yeshivas would sign a macha against a hetter that the yeshivas own posek was mattir.
The Rav in LA, Mr Unpacking claims, he only signed against "a diffrent story", but this story he is fully with the heter. This again may be true. But again, this Rav claims to not be part of the mattirim, and in fact refused to be masader at the wedding. And he originally signed against it, so if he changed his mind, why not write that now you feel it is mutter for this and this reason. But, no such hetter from the LA Rav exists.
There seems to be a psak from a bais din to be mattir, according to the unpacker. Also may be true. But all we have is a paper saying they were in fact NOT mattir, and from their standpoint, it is assur, and they washed their hands of the whole affair.
This game has to stop. If people are really mattir, let them come out and explain their position and put their name on it.
The Rabbis (Vachtfogel, Bromberg, Miller) that signed it is assur write in their letter that they spoke to all parties involved, including the Bais din (that eventually walked away from the story).
Mr Unpacker claims this is false, and they in fact never spoke to them. How does he know that?
If I was to speculate, I would guess Mr Unpacker is actually affiliated with the mattirim somehow. I wish he would understand the damage done with these tricks and games being played with halacha, and this new breed of halacha activists.
No one should be mattir anything unless they are willing to put their name on it and give a basic explanation of the hetter.
      Unpack that.

    8. So someone has an opinion about how Batei Din should operate, and anyone who disagrees is possul. I am sure he knows how much tzaros the families of the Dayanim are going through because of the mob justice meted out by disgruntled family members.

I am not affiliated with anything, I just happen to know some people.

If I have time, I will give an explanation about how these irresponsible Kol Korehs come about. It is not an indictment of the signers, it is a sign to the sophistication of the koach hasheker, how they manage to pass by the defenses of otherwise choshuve people. It takes a unique kind of kishron and cynicism on the part of the Talmid Chacham to see past it, and not all of them have it.

    9. Rav Malkiel, Rav Eli Ber..these are not people that are easily fooled. The Oisrim must be super savvy indeed.
Regardless, you miss the point. WHERE IS THE HETER?
Enough with the drashos and conspiracies from the mattirim, SHOW US THE HETER, with a reasonable explanation for this travesty.

    10. Reb Malkiel and Reb Elya Ber are busy people.
The shakranim spend all day figuring out how to push their agenda through.

      It isn't equal.

Regarding the heter, the Beis Din is willing to speak to any Rav who wishes to understand them. So far, they have not been contacted by the signers.

As a side note, my respect for this Beis Din has only increased. They are under great pressure, and are threatened with all kind of underhanded 'revenge', yet they are not impressed. If you manage to disprove their Halacha, fine. But outside pressure has no effect on them. Think of whom you want next time you have a Din Torah with a powerful person.

    1. Would you mind sharing the matirim's letters? They are obviously not ashmaed if they hold they are correct. The last published letter from Reb DC was a week before the wedding saying he took back his heter. He publicized that letter, and if he changed back again, he would have to publicize that too.

      Delete
  8. Read the letter from the Lakewood Roshie Yeshiva being moicha. The point they make is, the Mattirim are operation in secrecy, each one blaming the next, with almost no written psak explaining how a Kohen from a family of Kohanim can marry a giyores.
The only written explanation is a strange letter from a Rov in Brooklyn, first saying it is assur, then saying since its bdieved so they indeed can get married, but not explaining why. The Lakewood mattirim would generally not rely on this Rav regardless, thus the hetter remains a mystery, with out a name on it, or a clear reason.
The Oisrim have written clear letters that it is forbidden, and have attached their name to these letters. The tshuva from e"y saying it is assur, explains why one cant be mattir as well.
The process itself was a problem. And unfortunately, it is not the first time this happened.
Giving very wild and draconian hetterim while hiding behind other people, and everyone claiming it is not them, seems to be a new dangerous pattern from some of these people, thus the macha.
This was done about 7 years ago with a hetter for a married woman to remarry without a get, with disastrous results.
    H-shem yishmor.
