The Torah world is mourning with the Petirah of Rav Boruch Weissbeker Zatzal the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Bais Mattisyohu in Eretz Yisrael at the age of 83. The levaya will take place tomorrow erev shabbos from his yeshiva. The Roshbyeshiva was ill over the last few months he was niftar tonight at the Maaynei Hayeshoah hospital in Bmei Brak.
Over the years he was marbitz Torah for decades at Yeshivas Kol Torah and in Bais Mattisyahu in Bmei Brak where he taught thousands of talmidim. He was also a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah.
Just this past summer he was in Lakewood raising funds for his yeshiva

ReplyDeleteI saw him here in the summer, you could have thought he was just another Israeli Rosh Kollel. His simplicity and his Yekkishe aristocracy were no contradiction. He was a self-made man, who built himself up to towering heights of Torah and Avoda.
Eretz Yisroel does not have anything remotely similar left any more.
