Israel at war day 119
- Cabinet ministers are relucatant to approve the hostage deal and doubt it can be implemented with a release of thousands of terrorists and a long pause in the fighting
- The IDF says troops killed dozens of Hamas operatives in the Khan Younis area over the past day, as fighting continues in all areas of the Gaza Strip. In west Khan Younis, the Paratroopers Brigade killed some 20 gunmen, mostly in close-quarters fighting, according to the IDF. The paratroopers also raided several Hamas sites in the area, seizing weapons.
- Yona Leibzon, Israel Channel 12: the Biden Administration’s patience with Israel has run out. The Americans are taking off their gloves against their closest and most loyal ally on the Middle East.
- Israeli airstrikes allegedly targeted Sayyidah Zaynab, a stronghold of Iranian militias, near Damascus, Syria early this morning, according to Syrian reports. (JPost)
- Hamas demands release of Fatah terror chief Barghouti, PFLP leader as part of hostage deal
- Netanyahu at today’s Cabinet meeting:
“There are three conditions [for a hostage deal] that we cannot agree to, we cannot allow the war to end. We embarked on this move to collapse Hamas. We cannot allow the release of thousands of terrorists - this is a fact whose meaning is clear to all of us, and we cannot allow the IDF to leave the Gaza Strip. Our strength is in our unity. Hopefully everyone here will stay, and if not it will hurt us all.”
Typical Israeli propaganda line that they are Americas only ally in the Middle East. In any case they're not an ally there are beneficiary and a beneficiary only. It's a one-way street with America getting very little of the benefit of being aligned with Israel. Times are changing and Arab states like Saudi Arabia are very happy to work with United States and the benefit of having Israel as a ally is quickly diminishing. Reality might be bitter it but it's time to realize that their time is running out......
ReplyDeleteTo the contrary the Saudis want to normalize relations with Israel rather than with the US.
DeleteAnon 645am, It sounds like America considers themselves benefiting from their relationship with Israel (otherwise they would spend billions of dollars on israel) . Oh I guess you know better!
DeleteThis has been an old serious debate.Decades old.
DeleteThe biggest benefit is remarkably simple:super wealthy domestic political backers of our ethnic persuasion
cf.Ivy presidents;resignation
Tracht, Tracht a little better!!
ReplyDeleteIsrael is a vital ally in the region who they can TRUST. They will not and cannot trust any other government!
You mention Saudi Arabia . As long is Biden is around they will take advantage of weakness.
This appears to be the most uneducated exchange ever poster here.
ReplyDeleteUS is just as big a beneficiary if not bigger then Isreal.
They have weapons tested and new innovations constantly born thru the strategic partnership and a always active combat zone. It's almost like America's constant cutting edge testing facility, which is always upgrading whatever is sent they're way to a much better product then before. Then it comes back to the US with data and upgrades, and Is therefore the most important asset for US
