- Bagel king in Jackson now under new management and new hashgicho too. It was previously under the hashgocha of Rabbi Gissingers/Rabbi Neustadt Ches K supervision and is now under the Hashgacha Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin of Rabbi Tzvi Altusky. VKM Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin (VKM) was founded in 2019 at the request of several prominent Rabbonim in and around Lakewood. VKM set out on a mission to create a hashgacha entity that would uphold to the standards of the Lakewood community and beyond, and implement guidelines and strategies to satisfy those concerned about the kashrus of a given vendor.
- Strike 3? New allegations of prosecutorial misconduct against Deputy Attorney General John Nicodemo, again claiming he withheld evidence from a grand jury. All three accusors are former prosecutors. He was the prosecutor in theEisman case Nj Globe reports Earlier this week, Nicodemo faced a third allegation of deliberately withholding evidence from a grand jury while seeking an indictment of a prominent Lakewood Rabbi. His attorney, Leo Vartan, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, stated that there is “clear evidence that the state intentionally withheld exculpatory information from the defense.”In two prosecutions involving charter school officials, attorneys have also alleged that Nicodemo misrepresented statutes and lied to a grand jury. Why would Bagel King not go with KCL, the de facto hashgacha in Lakewood? Who are the Rabbanim behind VKM? Besides R Altusky.
ReplyDeleteab woke up early today! Which minyan did you daven in?
DeleteKCL has certain rules & policies in place that i dont believe Bagel King as the ability to abide by. Its not against the KCl, and not that BK is doing anything wrong. I believe its operational things, like 1 of the partners not being Shomer Torah U Mitzvos etc.
DeleteCan someone please tell us what these 'rules and policies' are, which Halacha are they based on, and what do VKM thing about it?
DeleteFor one, That the owner of the establishment has to have Chezkas Kashrus... 1 of the things required is to be shomer shabbos. Really not that complicated.
DeleteDoes 95% of Lakewood care to look at hashgochas on anything ?
ReplyDeleteYes. Very much so
DeleteOf course we do.
DeleteNarish to think otherwise.
Case in point, I tell my family that a certain store we only eat bagels and not the other items from there. It may change now it may not. But yes. I check hashgacha, check owners, check environment, and whatever eles. This is a town of benei Torah Bnei Aliya who are also pleased with good food. BH
I am happy that there are more reliable hechsherim in Lakewood.

ReplyDeleteMy protestations of last few months [& before] to a tee...
He'll be as usual marginalized/ignored.This is as self induced they desire
Vkm is not a Lakewood hashgocho and does not meet the Lakewood community standards. It comes from out of town communities such as Philly and Queens etc bh Lakewood is a ihr meleah sofrim has enough local talmidei chachomim yerei hashem who do a great job in kashrus! Not sure what they are adding besides choices for meikilim!
ReplyDeleteVKM does the hashgacha on Lake Terrace. They also do hashgacha for several BMG events. You're engaging in pathetic innuendo and have no clue what you're talking about.
DeleteUnfortunately your your pointing out a big issue in Lakewood, although there are well over 10k lomdim in Lakewood, you can't find enough ppl willing to do hashgache jobs, as well as finding rabbes for elementary, and even dayonim there is a shortage, there is some type of misconception that you should learn Torah lshem Torah, and doing anything other than that is an issue if it's in the Torah line
DeleteLake Terrace also has Tarnipol.
DeleteCome to BMG any day u will see Yungerlite pulling in to seder, ready ti shtieg away on a sugyah, with coffee from wawa etc which have NO hashgachah at all. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteAll Wawa coffee has an OU on it!
DeleteIf I place the coffee pot in the same dishwasher as the ham warming rack, and then wash it together, having an ou on the coffee is meaningless.
DeleteThe coffee may have a hashgacha, but with their wives and inlaws working hard to support them, might the yungerlite perhaps sacrifice and get free coffee at BMG? Or is it just following the current trend of going into your car or on a bus with a hot cup (Full or empty. No one can see anyway) in your hand?
DeleteNosain tam lfgam is a real thing lol……the soup ruins the taste and your dishwasher doesn’t make a difference.. unless you want to be machmir on yourself. Relax.
Deletei have been learning in bmg every day (part-time) for 27 years and have never once seen anyone with a wawa coffee cup.
DeleteWe have a mesora that if many BMG yugerleit are doing something, the Ribono Shel Oilam would not let them be nichshal.
ReplyDeleteWho is that mesora from? Do any other groups who have such a guarantee or is limited to those who are learning in BMG? What percentage of BMG is needed for that guarantee to be activated? What if other yungerleit in BMG hold it is wrong does the mesora still work?
DeleteJust because the Wawa coffee itself may have a ou, there are 101 things that could be going on that make it trief
ReplyDeleteSo eating chalav stam in Lakewood is ok since many Yungerlite couldn't give a hoot??
ReplyDeleteEating chalav stam is ok because it’s ok
DeleteRav Ahron ztl didnt make a deal about it at all
Well, considering that Lakewood is in America, yeah, eating chalav stam is ok. What's the chiddush?
DeleteThe chidish is that in Rav Ahrons days a yungermahn or bochur was judged by his kishron and ameilus but Anon 5:42 was mechadesh that chalav stam somehow is the new "holy cow"
