    1. Hope not, they had a rayze it and collected over 300k from the community

    2. How are they suppose to build with only 300,000? Just the land cost much more.

    3. The seniors could have converted the existing community center on east 4th to become a senior center. But I just remembered that they can't because our committeemen sold it and all its surrounding property to the owner of Regency Development for one dollar. Never mind that that property was assessed at 2 million dollars. And never mind that the agreement required the developer to build another community center before removing even one brick from the existing building, which of course never happened. None of this is a problem, because nothing should stand in the way of friends which always take care of each other..

  4. Those Nevele developers just saved millions with that meoiray hooaish. Now there will be a huge development without a hotel.

    1. Truth is, it's too far off the 17-86.
Not worth much, unless they had *insurance*
Maybe some kehilla wants to build there, but that's not worth much.
If course, there's always some real estate yokul who'll build for speculation.

  5. If a person bought a gift certificate to Toys for Thought, the store is obligated to honor it.

They have no right to demand that people redeem them now or else.

    Someone give them the message.

    2. If a store closes they might have to redeem the certificate but good luck getting them to.

  6. What's this Tehillim business on Purim night?
Purim is not a day of Tefilla, it is a day of משתה ושמחה.
Taanis Esther is the day for דברי הצומות וזעקתם. Purim is a day of happiness.

This newfangled idea of using Purim for 'yeshuos' runs contrary to the essence of Purim, and is geared to undermine the שמחה למעלה מטעם ודעת that Purim symbolizes. Gedolei Yisroel did not spend Purim saying Tehillim, Reb Moshe Feinstein knew the Zohar as well as the do-gooders of Lakewood. As did the Satmar Rav, the Chazon Ish, and the Chafetz Chaim.
Stop the perversion of Purim. Now!

    1. This perversion takes advantage of suffering people, removing their one day of happiness a year, guilting them into doing something that their hearts tells them is inappropriate.

Haven't they suffered enough? Every older single, family member of a cancer patient, and parent of a struggling child is told that their Purim has to be canceled.

    2. I don’t believe for one second that any of the gedolim who you mention would have opposed if not supported saying Tehilim on Purim during an eis tzorah. One of Rav Moshe Feinstein’s most famous teshuvos says it was written on Purim. What Torah were you ever mechadash on Purim? And Rav Moshe clearly hadn’t drunk even a reve’is when he wrote the teshuva or he wouldn’t have been able to write it.

    4. Been saying this for years - they are always looking to make programs for the time that isn't meant to learn daven etc. while leaving the times meant to learn and daven by the wayside! Erev shabbos you should be helping at home with the last minute preparations not running off to learn leaving the woman (As R Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg writes in the book.....) or motzei yom kippur a time to start with your sukka etc - no lets have a seder limud as if getting ready for sukkos which is brought down in halacha is wrong..
Work on the current sedorim stop finding a new niche!
It happens to be this year with the war in EY I happen to not find these sedorim so bothersome...

    5. Rabosai - is the oilam this dumb??????

The purpose of saying Tehilim before the Mesiba in BMG is not because of the segulos of Purim. Its to show sensitivity to Yidden who are in a tremendous Eis Tzarah - the hostages, the families of the soldiers and the soldiers themselves who are in a Makom Sakanah Mamash.

As we are about to get shikur and serve Hashem with tremendous Simcha, it behooves us to show that we are sensitive to the plight of those who are unable to share in the Simcha of Purim. So we say Tehilim for them, and then we continue with our Avodas Hayom of Simchas Purim.

I'm surprised that the choshuve oilam of Bnei Torah on Hefkervelt couldn't figure t his out on their own and instead needed this Baalhabos (a baal kishron, I'll admit), to help them understand poshute pshat.

The same is true in Eretz Yisroel. Maran R' Dov Landau instructed Israeli Yeshiva Bochrim to only dance in the streets in CHAREIDI AREAS, because in non-chareidi areas it would show insensitivity to the families of soldiers who are in harm's way.

Showing sensitivity to others is a good thing. It doesn't take away from our Simchas Purim, but it makes us into a mentsch.

The olam is trying to be truthful
In Yerushalayim now most shuls are not saying tehillim after davening anymore you wouldn't know there's a war going on. Even in America we rattle off a kapital tillim after davening with no hergesh abi yoitzeh tzu zein.
Who are we fooling if we are not sincere??
If we wanted to show sensitivity to the hostages we should have joined their movements of protesting or going to a washington.
Why are we suddenly insecure about the mitzva of Purim to be besimcha even during an es tzoroh
Have we cut down our over the top gashmiyus lifestyle to be sensitive to the war?
We have to be honest and truthful about our approach

    4. It's all chassidishe influence. Nonsense. Not having pictures of tznius women in a mag. is rediclous. The Jewish Observer had them too, and b'h Artscroll didn't fall for this nonsense. I see holocaust pictures with the women airbrushed out, like we're trying to finish the job Hitler couldn't do, depriving people of their last dignity. An article on an ehrliche woman like Sarah Shnirer or the like can't have a pic of her, but pictures of Hitler or Chmelnitzki, reshaim gemurim whom it's assur to look at, is ok. Insanity

    1. Do you honestly not know the difference between tznius and pritzus? Does it have to be spelled out?

A picture of a woman who is fully dressed is not pritzus.

      Stop the nonsense!

    2. Any picture of any woman, even the most tzniusdig is not tzanua. It is pritzus. More than just literall translation.
And that's with the MOST tzniusdig, any iota less than that is not even worth discussing.

    3. Fully dressed females in a movie poster isn't pritzus?!Really?!

      Delete
    4. No, a picture of a woman is not pritzus at all.

Until the early eighties, nobody even made this suggestion. From Der Yid to the Jewish Observer, pictures of women were published with no problem. The Munkatcher Rav, the Minchas Elazar, sent a picture of the Kallah to the newspaper to publish.

To them colored pics were epitome of the influence of treife Paris.& treife America. It was mi'us to that generation. It was a sign of those going badly modern. A step almost towards mixed swimming

      Got it.

Remember, when the b/w pictures of women were published, the pictures of men that were published were also b/w. There was never an issue of any difference between the two.

      Delete
  11. No it's not, but to look at it is! That's why pictures of woman should not be randomly sent out to promote a chizuk asifa. You will cause men to see a picture of woman which for him is pritzus. And therefore it is pritzus to send it around. Got it?

    ReplyDelete
  12. A couple decades ago or less it was taken as given by most here that having women on public colored pics was an element of pritzus
Some harry crowds eg Baltimore found such nuances difficult.
Just as they found other nuances beyond their ken.Their influences has seeped in unfortunately.
