This past weekend, in a Purim turnabout of events, things came from left field, from an
unexpected source.
The Sephardic chief rabbi articulated how B’nei Yeshiva en masse should take the walking
staff in hand, and move to chutz l’Aretz, should a giyus – conscription directive be enacted.
This caused a row across Israel’s political spectrum. Benny Gantz dubbed the remarks a moralblow to the I.D.F., while Avigdor Lieberman, scholar in residence, claimed it contravened Halacha.
Rav Yosef was actually reiterating the Ponevez Rosh Yeshiva, Maran Harav Shach’s statement,
years ago.
Harav Yosef also said the success of Tzahal hinges on Torah study.
Giving people clarity about these issues is genuine Kiddush shem Shomayim.
Yet, Monday’s edition of ‘Torah Jewry’s Daily’ made no mention of this news item.
Who would keep silent and unwittingly create a fictional narrative of facts, as if nothing at all
took place?
Will ‘Mishpacha Magazine’ seize the moral highground and tell it like it is?!
With so much crisis on Israel’s borders, K'lal Yisrael needs much merit Above – limud haTorah is celestial currency!!
Come on, Hamodia and Mishpacha – let’s deliver the goods in real time.
What exactly would you like Mishapacha and Hamodia to report on? The government has done nothing and likely not do anything to effect the yeshiavbas and Kolles. Wake up to reality
ReplyDeleteThe Idf showed its failures to the world how they were caught off guard by Hamas.
ReplyDeleteThe draft has nothing to do with getting more soldiers it is simply an attempt to have the charedim join secular Israeli society and Ahmad them away from their menorah and yiddishkeit.
Anyone who joins the army is faced with nisyonos of a spiritual downfall,in fact many have left the fold after joining the army. Even if they won't draft yeshiva students they will draft the weaker among us and they have no chance of staying frum once they go.
In today's news the senior intelligence officer of Southern command is resigning over an improper relationship with a female subordinate

ReplyDeleteWould Moshe or Dovid have tolerated having females sauntering all over in the army. What about Yehoshua? Or the Chashmonaim? Would they have considered such an army carrying any obligation upon religious guys, or to the contrary they would have considered it a sacrilege. Fighting when uncalled for with the wrong crowd would at best be like the Ma’apilim.
ReplyDeleteAre there heroic, righteous boys fighting Gaza ( And notice when the going gets rough- it’s only boys carrying the grunt burden & suffering tragic casualties.) ?
Painful as it is to admit, they are in essence cannon fodder or Boxer of Animal Farm for the nefarious co-ed rainbow etc. agendae of those calling the shots above them

That is the purpose for what the boys & young men are supposed to be fighting ?!

Are there are wonderfully solid, sincere boys in Shachar, Nachal Chareidi etc? Yes, but let’s face reality rather than romanticize. Those guys will be kept at the very bottom of the political military pyramid. It would therefore be terribly self defeating to sacrifice their all for such an anti-traditional anti-moral edifice as constituted.
This isn't an issue that can be ignored but it is also a dangerous issue to report on. Once the kanoim and other hotheads take up the cause, major damage and a far worse outcome will r'l be the result.
ReplyDeleteAs yannai said fear not the perushim or the tzedukim.... Fear not the left lapid and Lieberman etc fear not the kanoim fear the leaders of the institutions who are making a killing on government programs who might have to give up a bit to stand up for what's right.... Who will compromise simply for money.... And the promise of some more$$
