-Purim recap

Purim in Lakewood and surrounding towns was celebrated joyfully with a festive atmosphere. There was noticeably more groups of yeshiva bochurim going around collecting  even with the rayze it campaigns  There was the usual purim traffic earlier in the day  unlike previous years  there wasn't much of a  presence of crossing guards at key intersections. Sailors costume seemed to be popular this year.
The surrounding communities Purim was felt in the air in Jackson, Toms River & Manchester  with many communal and private parties inviting the public to join in fire works going off all night. Local gevirim hosted purim parties for the public inviting everyone to join in. while checks were written out for tzedaka.

As expected Some groups collecting  made less this year in general but got larger donations from a few select gevirim. at KNA purim night close to 300k was given out until after they ran out of the vouchers according to reports on social media. Others gave out checks but cut down on large partiessome previous annual parties were closed this year.

On purim night there were several learning programs in many shuls yeshivos with participants getting a small stipend. In BMG  the annual Purim Tish attracted thousands  the event started with tehillim for Eretz Yisrael followed by dancing  with the roshei yeshiva on stage until the wee hours of the morning . For this years  the supporters of the Adirei Hatorah were on stage getting proper recognition for their efforts in support of the youngeleit  Music and neginah was provided by mishpachas Brodt and they introduced a new song as is done yearly. A purim kollel learned from Chatzos to Netz. The music and dancing continued for the 2nd night into the early hours of shushan purim.

  1. After being asked how he would “counter the wave of antisemitism in the wake of the war’s outbreak” ploni attributed rising levels of antisemitism to the war in Gaza.

“Well, that’s because you fought back. And I think Israel made a very big mistake. I wanted to call [Israel] and say don’t do it. These photos and shots. I mean, moving shots of bombs being dropped into buildings in Gaza,” argued ploni. “And I said, Oh, that’s a terrible portrait. It’s a very bad picture for the world. The world is seeing this…every night, I would watch buildings pour down on people. It would say it was given by the Defense Ministry, and said whoever’s providing that that’s a bad image.”

Who said it, Bernie or Trump?

    1. It was Trump, and I agree with him. Why was Israel showing the world these videos of bombs going into buildings? As Trump said, "Do what you need to do and finish the job [of eradicating Hama], but don't broadcast those videos to the entire world. You're making everyone hate you."
Trump is 100% right. Israeli hasbara, although better than in the past, is not that good.

    2. Agree.Secular Israelis in order to justify their dominating role (to themselves at least) need the liberal & developing world to be rooting for them.
Since that's their purpose, their hasbara will invariably fail. That is & will always be an impossible conundrum

    3. Trump said it but totally not in the context this quote in itself implies he did. It was a part of a larger interview where he very strongly supported Israel in their fight against Hamas. What you are misquoting was his response to a question about how to deal with the rise in antisemitism since October 7th. However, l note the irony of his answer, because Trump has about the same chances as Israel does as saying or doing something in self defense that will not be distorted by the very same progressives to imply that he is the aggressor. And no I am NOT a Trump supporter. (though I do expect to vote for him as the lessor of the two evils)

    4. It's not that they need the world to be rooting for them they need the world's money ammunition arms. Because for the last 70 years they are standing with hat in hand begging for support and funding they need the world in the US's Goodwill. Realty.

    5. False,mostly.Sorry.Though it is what they will claim to you (unless you maybe have major security clearance & social cache).& even to themselves occasionally.
eg Israeli editorials have like forever been sucking up to many countries who barely ever give them anything
more than to those few who have.Furthermore,
The US only started supplying them AFTER '67.

    6. Oh, Israel was the only source of the pictures? There were no photo journalists? You guys will say anything - even to th detriment of Israel - if it is needed to defend Trump

    7. You agree with Bernie/Trump that the Jews are the cause of antisemitism? Not, you know, the vile antisemites?

    8. Anon 9:18 AM and Anon 9:48 AM
I am not agreeing with Trump that Israel is the source of the pictures, or that Jews are the cause of antisemitism.
But Trump does have a good point - that Israel should stop broadcasting their videos and just do what they need to do quietly. Trump will support Israel in eradicating Hamas, unlike Biden. But Israel shouldn't broadcast it.
Do you hate Trump so much that you will twist and turn every single thing he says to make him look bad? He is the biggest ohaiv yisroel of any president in modern history. Stop making things up.

    9. Even if to you it may seem similar it is akin to the mashal of cat vs the landlady.
Secondly if we don't do richtig introspection we will never learn where we as a people have been going wrong.

    10. I was particularly moved by his call for the hostages to be released....Oh, what was that? Never mind, he was talking about the Jan 6 "hostages."

    11. Anon 8:48 So it's only 50 years since 67 not 70 years...... Point is that if you were really caring for the state of Israel ( Or at least for the people living there) you would want them to be independent. Add beholden to the US for every bullet and boot

    12. Israel was in considerably worse shape & comparatively more beleaguered before then. Before they started supposedly in need of kissing up as much to the US (Besides, being majority Socialist, they wouldn't want have wanted to kiss up.Iirc a sizable minority of the Knesset supported N.Korea during the Korean Conflict) & still managed somehow.& their propaganda was back then, though different themes, rather in common with now

  2. Trump said it. I wish I could figure out what it means. But as much as he's a total nutcase ,I still can't get myself to vote for Biden or more exactly Harris and Obama

    1. You think that Obama was behind the decision to immediately send two carrier strike groups to support Israel after the attack? Or that the president should visit Israel during war time - a first I think for u.s., president? Or that the U.S. should veto countless U.N. resolutions against Israel? I highly doubt that Obama was behind any of those decisions.

    3. What nonsense. Israel's pictures are a tiny fraction of the pictures and videos of the war being published all over the world. It would make no difference if they didn't release them.

      Delete
    4. Nonsense. How Israel chooses to portray itself of itself is how world portrays it

    5. Nonsense. Palestinians, antisemites, and the world press will portray Israel as the evil aggressor no matter what they do. Stop being naive.

    6. Indeed, yes.& yet if you presume that that really makes much difference where it counts in the world-you're naive !
