- Judge ruling  a political earthquake in NJ politics that could forever change New Jersey’s political landscape, a federal judge on Friday issued an injunction against the state’s one-of-a-kind but long-debated primary election ballot design — a century-old system known as the “county line.”Under the county-line system, county Democratic and Republican parties endorse candidates in all races and then bracket them together in a line on primary ballots, with opponents listed to the side — a place sometimes called “Ballot Siberia.”. Critics have long said the arrangement — used in 19 of New Jersey’s 21 counties — gives the endorsed candidates a big advantage by making them appear more prominent on ballots and making it easier for voters simply to vote down the line. Research shows candidates that receive the line are greatly favored to win their party’s nomination in the primary. The ruling blocks the setup and forces a ballot redesign for at least this year’s Democratic primaries.

I actually prefer things better without FAA nosying around government business. He/She has a way of always focusing on the things I feel are not that important to the residents.

    2. There's no news in Lakewood, so no need for news sites. Thats why scoop is so boring.

    3. LNN and Lakewood Alerts are boring and fake news. All they really do is become a mouthpiece for certain roshei mosdos (like the recent cheshek shlomo planning board application) to bully and intimidate their good neighbors, so they can develop an insane number of duplexes and make loads of money at the expense of those living in the area.

  5. Isn't the primary thing itself not fair now?
Why do the two parties control it at all.
1 primary for everybody and run off until someone get a majority.
(instant runoff can speed up the process.)

  8. Govorner Murphy does not represent us in Lakewood! Last week was an Anti Israel tweet, Today he is busy supporting the 'mushchasim'. He banned plastic bags so that now all of us need to pay extra for the already high grocery prices., of course the higher gas taxes and tolls over the past few years. Dont let anyhone tell you Murphy is looking out for us. We need a governor who will bring sanity back to the people here.

    1. We are screwed. You read that here first.
You think taxes are high enough, just wait.

      Delete
    2. I would not say that. If all the State says is that we should raise taxes they will get will lose when it is over. They have been saying it for decades. Too many times said, and too late for anyone to buy it. Z'chus harabbim will carry us through it all.

  10. Also, you taxes, under the current financial structure, are certain to go up because every time the district borrowed money the state passed the burden of funding to Lakewood. It will catch up one day and must end now. The debt should be waived because it should never have happened if the formula was right.
