ReplyDeleteFast is over 751? Says who?
ReplyDeleteRav Forcheimer said to wait 50 minutes!
R' Moshe Feinstein who was around before Rav Forcheimer and accepted by many. And according to R' Tukaccinsky it is 7:41.
DeleteIn recent days, many Jews in Israel are wondering what the proper way is to celebrate Purim in the shadow of the war and the plight of the hostages and their families and the thousands of Jews who were evacuated from their homes.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, Jews have the mitzvah of being b’simcha on Purim but on the other hand, so many Jews are suffering and so many IDF soldiers have been killed and injured.
The shaila was posed to HaRav Zilberstein, who responded: “I learned from my Rebbe, HaGaon HaRav Mordechai Shulman, z’tl, Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka, who at a time of war warned the bnei yeshivos that it’s forbidden to go out on the streets and wander around for no reason. So many are on the battlefront, there are women whose husbands are at battle and mothers whose hearts are tight with fear for their sons. He also wouldn’t agree to sing zemiros on Shabbos out loud in order not to cause pain to the neighbors whose relatives were on the battlefront.”
“It is definitely appropriate to be careful about this on Purim as much as possible,” HaRav Zilberstein concluded.
The purpose of saying Tehilim before the Mesiba in BMG is not because of the segulos of Purim. Its to show sensitivity to Yidden who are in a tremendous Eis Tzarah - the hostages, the families of the soldiers and the soldiers themselves who are in a Makom Sakanah Mamash.
ReplyDeleteAs we are about to get shikur and serve Hashem with tremendous Simcha, it behooves us to show that we are sensitive to the plight of those who are unable to share in the Simcha of Purim. So we say Tehilim for them, and then we continue with our Avodas Hayom of Simchas Purim.
I'm surprised that the choshuve oilam of Bnei Torah on Hefkervelt couldn't figure t his out on their own and instead needed this Baalhabos (a baal kishron, I'll admit), to help them understand poshute pshat.
The same is true in Eretz Yisroel. Maran R' Dov Landau instructed Israeli Yeshiva Bochrim to only dance in the streets in CHAREIDI AREAS, because in non-chareidi areas it would show insensitivity to the families of soldiers who are in harm's way.
Showing sensitivity to others is a good thing. It doesn't take away from our Simchas Purim, but it makes us into a mentsch.
