Actually, with the new voting machines, everyone can vote based on their registered address, no matter where they vote. Just like early voting.

    1. Making it easier to vote is the best thing for democracy.

Disenfranchising people, using onerous voting laws, means that the country descends into anarchy, with only extremists involved in the process.

Proves again referenda are more democratic & better for the people than elections, legislators, or asskanim
Explains also how come they are avoided by those who claim to be mantles of democracy

    1. As Yidden, that method of governance is seriously dangerous.

Mob rule is the worst for us.

    2. Only if you like massive corruption & wish to be corrupt & that way then probably yes, there might be public consequences. & if so probably well deserved. A bizayon of Yisroel
For the rest of us it would be a better world. Nachas to the Creator
that we sacrifice a tad of underhand goodies for that.

    2. You are flat out wrong, and shooting from the hip. The message is antithetical to Torah. Acharei rabim lehatos was not said as a general rule; see all divrei rishonim on the subject. Those with deeply held bitterness and grudges are haunting internet blogs masquerading as "ehrliche" as they grouse about all of the things that they can't control but would certainly love to. The messenger is indeed presenting a poor message with poor presentation and should stay off stimulants and the internet.

    3. You are flat out wrong. Torah is about ehrliche and yashar.
Such a shocker.Better sit for it.

If you propose that the Torah frankly refuses to hold of present
democracy in any shape or for altogether, be straightshooting & open come what may in consequence both internally & in the world.
Stop the continued ploy.Naaaah, there too much at stake for that.
So you rather instead falsely pretend that Torah works with a pseudo democracy which really is a cover for underhand shady deals for your benefits through manipulating representatives against what their public sent them for?& the krum excuse always is:Others are ganavim too

Beyond that, it so happens even a melech needed to receive public acclaim from the people without in-betweens

  8. (Berachos 50a)the Gemara tells us that the Jewish people were asked to approve Betzalel’s selection - just as every community must be consulted before any “parnes” is appointed. Presumably, the Jews could have vetoed God’s nomination and someone else would have ended up with the job.

  9. Devarim 1:14 Rashi should be considered proof that a system of (intermediary) representatives is perceived in Judaism a strong default deficiency, rather than a preference as a poster suggested .
Be that as it may, there's however an element to his contention.Although referenda are mostly a fairer, better method of democracy, nonetheless it could indeed lead to some sort of mob rule. Therefore likely the best of both sides to this discussion would be the holding of staggered referenda eg different demographics &/or regions having their vote separately spaced.Such referenda have been held in other countries & similar to the process of amendments.
That should give the needed room when necessary for cooler positions to prevail
