    1. Westgate Rent IncreaseJune 21, 2022 at 12:07 PM

What lawsuit? I heard they only went up about 10%. That's less than inflation in Lakewood. Is it illegal to raise rents?

    2. There are rent control laws you can't sign waivers to not follow the rule

      Delete
    3. What is the Rent Control Law you are referring to?
10% year over year increase is not allowed?

      Delete
  3. How come the litvish event, they make you pay for bussing and for the chasidim it is free?

  4. lived there for a few years, don't like them much. however, I spoke to more then one lawyer, was told that for besides for the 30 year exemption that they got for rent control, those forms that they ask us to sign are legal and not much we can really do unfortunately.

  5. There are no rent control laws in Lakewood definitely not for basements.

    ReplyDelete

    1. You are totally wrong. There ARE rent control regulations in Lakewood that have been in force since the 1970's. Basement units are also regulated under those ordinances.

  6. There shouldn’t be any restrictions on raising a basement as you are not obligated to continue renting it out so every lease renewal is like a new lease. Lmaasa most landlords are nice and only raise a reasonable amount even though they could get hundreds more each month in the current market.

  7. The issue is if its legal to make renters sign waivers exempting them from rent control laws supposedly local politicians said its illegal but can't confirm

  8. Everything is allowed in Westgate except for building shuls

  9. Who says WG doesn’t allow building shuls? There are many shuls there

    1. Whether or not you can builds shul there depends who you are and how well connected you are

  10. Why does adirei hatorah have a website? It seems to go against the whole ruach of the event and don’t we want to keep people off the internet? Especially now with nekadesh coming up it doesn’t seem appropriate especially for yeshiva!

    1. Adirei hatorah doesn’t, tomchei torah does
      Schnorrers can’t be choosy

  11. Westgate has the most shuls per capita in the US other than Boro Park.

  12. Dear yeshiveshe capitalists, rent control is an extremely important basic human need, for the simple reason that the landlord has his Tennant hostage, as moving costs start at 3000 and could easily reach 8k, so you basically have no option but to pay the extra 200 Dollars he wants. That's why it's very important to make sure the lease states clearly the amount it would go up at the renewal date, and don't assume anyone is too eidel to raise the rent outrageously

    ReplyDelete
  13. So why all the hock about no shuls in WG?

  14. Always tehilim chains started. Wondering why no tehilim chain or kabalas for Refael Moshe Michael ben Shoshanah Roza. May he have a complete refuah shelima!

  16. I want to know how the few republicans in Lakewood understand the Jan 6 story. The revelations are explosive, and we see how terrible Trump's actions really were.
He tried to pass fake electors and forge a win for himself. The only reason he wasn't successful is because he was such a moron. If we would have another president, as corrupt as trump but with more seichel, this country is toast.

    1. Huh? The people in Lakewood - and everywhere else - have no time for prime-time Soviet show trials. The show trial you're referencing is produced by a longtime, experienced TV producer. The show trials are set in congressional heairngs which always take place during the daytime. Congressional hearings never had a TV producer direct them.

The people running the show triay are the same avowed socialists/communists who concocted the Russia hoax and so many others hoaxes.

  17. If you believe everything they sell you then you’re right we can’t support him but when you know what kind of people we are dealing with exposing these “revelations” you know to take it with a huge grain of salt and it turns out not to be anything like what they sell you. I also have a bridge to sell btw, please pm me for details.

  18. So even before any evidence was shown, your minds were made up.

I am hearing scary revelations every day, and the idea that he would send fake electors to subvert democracy is really really scary. That does not change because of the identity of the producer of anything.

Btw, Cheney is a conservative through and through. She is also anti-Trump. That is no contradiction.

    1. How scary? As scary as using the FBI to create a lie about a presidential candidate and the a president? And destroy many lives and people along the way?

  19. Cheney is a fraud. Enjoy the show and continue losing every election.

  20. While there are many anti Trump Conservatives - potentially true blue conservatives almost to a man are lukewarm or less for Trump
Cheney and family are poor representatives
