Video: Route 9 Improvement Virtual Information center
video with option to submit comments on the Rt 9 Improvments set to begin next month as reported by FAA News
Removing the left turn onto central Ave is crazy. How exactly did they decide it's underutilized? There is always a couple of cars there by every light. It may not be a very busy turning lane but getting rid of it has a huge impact for anyone that does use it. Telling people to go down James up sunset is a huge detour can sunset handle anymore cars? What if you forget to make that early turn? Gotta swing around 88 to S Clifton to hurley these are huge inconveniences seems a bit outrageous just to benefit the 9 traffic. How about purchasing the gas station that was for sale and using that for a roundabout?
Removing the left turn lane is actually the best part of the plan. Having a 2nd lane passing through the Central Ave light will alleviate traffic for 1000s of cars daily, while inconveniences a few cars who forget to turn at James
About 30/40 cars pass the turning lane on a given light so how many cars do you expect to enter the turning lane? James has a small turning lane can it handle all the cars that are now having to turn there? Get ready for a backup - as it is only a handful of cars can make a turn on any given light. How about getting rid of the John street - doubles everyone's time patiently waiting to get down the 9.
The State figures that if Lakewood Twp hasn’t done anything to alleviate our traffic/infrastructure problem then why should they. So, instead they’re just going to reroute the traffic off the State roads onto the local streets.
A big yasher koach should be given to our dedicated planning & zoning board members for adding the thousands of duplexes and other dense building to our infrastructure. It’s all thanks to you guys that helped make this happen!
That's why we have elected officials they are supposed to look out for their constituents. Telling people small enhancements are coming to the 9 larger shoulders turning lanes sidewalks etc. People don't expect removals of a key turning lane. It's not all right to tell people you now have to drive down james up sunset to get to their home on Freeman Road - don't forget sunset and central going east are roads with traffic too! There's no grid in this town and restricting a turn with an extreme detoured route is really not ok. Central is a key Road with very little access we've got a lake all around - you can't remove a key turn for many!
Why are you getting so out of shape? There is no enforcement of traffic rules in this town anyway. No one going to ticket you for turning left at Central.
Of course they start the project in Toms River where it's needed the least, what do you expect from government bureaucrats

All of these ideas were publicized years ago where they solicited public comment both online and at in person events in Town Hall.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't speak up then, it's a bit late to cry now
