  1. It's telling that they felt the need to write a disclaimer about not opening a maternity department. It's because they know that in spite of the excellent but overcrowded maternity unit in Long Branch, people are still requesting one closer to home.

  2. Lakewood has become a עיר שאין בו רופאים Kimball hospital has been mostly privatized and stripped of serving as a full functioning hospital. The lack of a maternity ward in the town with the highest birthing rates in NJ and the US is not catering to the community.

To get appointments at a local doctor takes 2-4 days and then you only see a PA.

Pediatric doctors are booked up and patients have no choice but to continue running to the many urgent care centers that do not diagnose or look for underlying conditions or look out for the overall health of the child.

Dentist appointments are impossible ro make with some offices booking out 9 months in advance to fill cavities.

We need the Maiminidies movement from NY to focus on Lakewood and bring more private practices with quality doctors.

Unfortunately the industry has changed and doctors are no longer getting paid as they used to resulting in less people going to medical school.

    1. Doctors are getting paid what they used to - the problem is its "what they used to" the issue is every other job (Excluding morahs/rebeim/teachers) had their salaries in the last 5 years years double or close to that - why go to school in the medical field to make a starting salary of 75K when you can show up to a billing office without any knowledge on how to send an email and make 65k?

    2. Doctors are losing money from all the patients who have "free" government insurance that underpays for the services rendered.

    3. The Gov't is too busy throwing money at CHS daycares. The gov't is always trying to cut reimbursement for Medicare /Medicaid but childcare just keeps on getting higher reimbursement rates.

  3. A few other factors:

    1) High percentage of Lakewood (especially kids) are on JerseyCare with lower reimbursement rates than private insurance.

    2) the average even frum doctor probably does not view Lakewood has their type of community ro settle so why not live somewhere else. The Lakewood hashkafa does not produce doctors in the same way as other communities.

    Less people will get sick

As far as dentists are concerned.

  11. Doesn't matter what he says he doesn't have the facts. He's been claiming the owner had the keys and it's not true, the owner never had the keys.

  12. We were so excited to finally get bussing in Jackson, but I'm starting to have buyers remorse. The route took over two hours each way, today the bus came a hour late and my size year old is projected to get home after six thirty, total disaster and incompetence on behalf of the bus company. The bus driver doesn't know the route or where to go, they really have to get their act together!
