DOT estimates that the total cost will be $76 million. Earlier this spring, DOT secured full NJTPA-administered federal funding for this project. In Lakewood the project will begin at 2bd Street and Madison  ave with major improvements at each intersection. This project will not dualize the entire stretch of Foute 9 but will add turning lanes to ease traffic flow. Impacts on local traffic will be minimized by dividing the project into 3 sections. The intent is to complete each stage before moving onto the next area of construction. Estimated to take 3 years. Central Avenue / Hurley Avenue - Route 9 northbound will widened with an additional through lane. DOT officials have determined that the left turning lanes onto Central and Hurley Ave's are underutilized. Therefore, they will convert both turning lanes to through lanes. This will ban left turns in both directions, forcing northbound traffic to use James and Sunset, to get to Central Ave.see full story with maps at FAAnews.

  1. Can someone please bring this to the attention of Chasdei Lev?

There is one group of Rabbeim that keep getting overlooked by the various distributions - BMG Roshei Chaburah!
They are Rabbeim in every sense of the word, teaching & guiding etc., all day (& often much of the night too) AND their "salary" is a pittance (if anything at all), & certainly doesn't come close to what a school Rebbe receives!
They can use these benefits very much!

    1. Chasdei lev is maxed out even for local rebbeim. They only work with a few schools.

      Delete
    2. This doesn't need to be told to Chasdei Lev, it needs to be told to BMG. Mosdos need to sign up for Chasdei Lev and pay towards it, Chasdei Lev doesn't recruit mosdos to join.

    3. What is chasdei lev

  2. DOT officials have determined that the left turning lanes onto Central and Hurley Ave's are underutilized

Of course they are underutilized, they are impossible to use. They never leave time to move. The government does this the whole time. They make a test - a test designed to fail. Then they use the failure as proof to their next stupid move.

    1. Truck traffic heading southbound that needs to go to cedarbridge will now have to turn left on main/88 and then left onto south Clifton. That light at the corner of Clifton and 88 will be pulled down weekly. It’s an impossible turn.

    2. Why can’t the Twp just raise the traffic light at the 88 & Clifton?

    3. So, if you don’t like the DOT’s proposal why don’t you send in your comment to oppose?

  3. That’s a health event like the recent bloated bill is an inflation reduction act

  4. "RT 9 Intersection widening project"
They call taking away turning lanes a widening project?

    1. The State figures that if Lakewood Twp hasn’t done anything to alleviate our traffic/infrastructure problem then why should they. So, instead they’re just going to reroute the traffic off the State roads onto the local streets.

A big yasher koach should be given to our dedicated planning & zoning board members for adding the thousands of duplexes and other dense building to our infrastructure. It’s all thanks to you guys that helped make this happen!

    2. why do people still vote these $elf serving members back in year after year??!

  5. Isn't the sign Muktzah? who carried it there for them? Is there an Airuv, or were they there all shabbos?

  6. It’s not the rebbeim or roshei chabura that need chadei lev and all the other freebies. They’re all getting thousands every month in food stamps, wic, hud, Jersey care and all the perks like chasdei lev. The ones that really need it is the average hardworking couples called “middle class”, they are the ones really struggling and get hit from every new great idea to raise rebbeim and teachers at their expense on top of inflation etc.

    1. Simply not true. Food stamps maybe

  7. If the "middle class" would learn more torah, they would make more money. The proof is in the pudding - the lomdei torah are managing and the "middle class" are not.

  8. Excuse me? Do you know how much many of the middle class learn? A lot more than a lot of guys “learning”.

    1. Obviously not enough. The true lomdei torah are doing just fine b"h

  10. That comment is 100% on target, the turning lanes are underused, because they are IMPOSSIBLE to use! Some time the same car can wait 2 lites to make a left turn. Such stupidity!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. The turning lanes never had a left turn only onto Central from the south going north. This will make James St impossible

  12. Why is a Rosh chabura more deserving than a regular youngerman

    ReplyDelete
  13. Because a Rosh Chaburah comes from a chashuva family and wears a tie!

    ReplyDelete

    1. wears a tie?!
LOL .You obviously never stepped foot into yeshiva.
      Please go back to AISH...

  14. I like the way they decided to do away with the turning lane. If there's no turning signal how long should u wait to make a turn ??? 2-3 lights for sure. Put a turning signal and see how many people don't use it!!! It will create havoc on the whole South side of the lake traffic. Central James sunset etc.

  15. So this free uncle moishy concert was a shtick to vaccinate children with the covid jab.
How can the community allow this.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The community believes strongly that people should get themselves vaccinated against covid. The community has no problem with it. And the community likes red slush

  16. Drasha of Rav Avraham Grodzinski Hy"d probably enlightening and surprising re middle class-serious ehrliche ones who are careful 4 chelkei SH"A vs roshei chaburah whose Torah is worth more eichus vs kamus

    ReplyDelete
  17. Really? They were vaccinating people by the concert?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes they advertised that vaccines will be available

  18. Hi Mr cohen, could you repeat in English?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Let’s not forget about the most powerful and enlightening words of the Rosh (bava basra 1/26) that states
So all are on equal footing if maximizing free time and if fatzing around with what extra time one has respectively
Not in your ability to control how much time you need to dedicate to your livelihood
What is in your control is what you do with your free time — regardless of its duration (with anything more than “kdei chayuv” considered leisure time)
אין הקב״ה בא בטרוניא עם בריותיו
Practically speaking if a “learner” is learning 10 hours a day but wasting a whole bunch and an “earner” is maximizing his hour a day then the earner comes out ahead
I think there’s also a mesilas yesharim to a similar effect although he might not be discussing toraso umanaso per se but rather certain elevated madreigos in general that are open to all regardless of how much time is nec to put bread on the table

    2. You're referring to
