  2. So how does this work? Do folks think these esteemed brothers have powers of their own (the definition of a”z)? Or is it a prayer for them to intercede on the petitioners behalf? In Judaism we believe that you can approach God directly without the need for intermediaries. Or are people trying to invoke their merits even though they are not their progeny (dubious at best)? Why do you need go to their burial sites for it to work? Whatever it is you’re trying to get from them feel free to obtain in your study when you plead with their souls to better your life or intercede or use some of their schar points for u . . or better yet shape up your religious life, take some personal responsibility for your situation and pray to HaShem directly for whatever it is you want Him to grant you

He’ll be so much prouder and happier

    1. Are you asking, or just publicizing your opinion and mocking everyone who disagrees?

Ask Yaakov Avinu why he buried Rachel where he did.
Ask the Torah why Moshe Rabbeinus kever is not known where it is (the simple meaning)?
Ask Calev Ben Yifuneh why he went to Chevron?
      For starters.
Assuming you were asking because you really wanted to know.
Go mock everything that Jews do and then realize that oh it's actually in the torah. Unless you want to become a Maskil like the other commenters on the other posts.

    3. "When you plead with their roles to better your life"

Is that what the Nefesh Hachaim says to do when you learn? Or is that your own form of prayer?

    4. Typo connection, you wrote to plead with their "souls" to better your life.
(Whatever that means, especially if coming from the mouth of a Misnaged)

    5. You’re making my exact point with Moshes kever (and ditto for Yaakov not wanting to be buried in mitzrayim) - there was concern about their gravesites being turned into a”z

As far as the others, besides for their most assuredly not being explicit in the Torah, rather divrei aggadah, I already alluded to ancestors being different

    6. You obviously did not learn the Zohar on that. But no surprise, you probably don't believe in it.
As you don't believe in Chazal only if it's "explicit" in the Chumash

    7. The inyan of going to Kivrei Tzadikim is brought down in the Poskim (for instance Erev Rosh Hashana etc.). To mock that is mocking the Torah.

    8. I’m merely questioning peoples intent

The fact that no one responded that going to kvarim is significant vis a vis personal inspiration and as a potential catalyst for teshuva and more sincere prayer is telling

People need to think about what it is they are doing otherwise they run the risk of practices akin to idolatry

As far as the Zohar is concerned, my personal beliefs aside, traditional authorities including R Yehuda Aryeh of Modena R Yaakov Emden R Moshe Sofer & R Yechezkel Landau all questioned the provenance of all or all least large swaths of the Zohar

    9. Very few if any of the truly Great denied the veracity of the Zohar as a whole.

That's in spite of contentions over the years you come across on many modox blogs and journals!

However quite a few,as mentioned, questioned elements and would refuse from relying on every jot and tittle

    10. The one exception would be Rav Yaakov Emden plausibly.. and then he relied on it for his siddur

    11. You weren't "merely" questioning. Face it.
Regarding the Zohar, yup I saw that coming. Now I know which path your on.

  5. "stability of law" had little issue with every state outlawing abortion from the foundation of the country until 1970.

The first state to overturn was NY by one vote

Does he not have a better use of his money? There are poor people out there, people who need help getting food and clothing, therapists and Melamdim, Yungeleit who go to work because they don't have a decent Kollel check.
Who taught Mr Anonymous that Pizza pies is the way to go? That teacher of his deserves petch
