-Real estate bidding wars Is this what Hashem wants for us? For Lakewood, once the isolated deep and pure Torah community started by Rav Aaron Kotler many decades ago, where young families sacrificed in gashmius to be able to learn here for as many years as they could afford? I discussed this situation with a prominent Rav. His take on the situation was, that at the beginning of the overpricing and bidding wars, maybe there were halachic implications. However, once the situation became what the market could sustain and “normalized” bidding over the asking price, it is no longer against Halacha More at Jnews

ReplyDelete"Why is leadership so repugnant to those holding the public trust?"
Rav Elyahu Levin in 2014 tried to convince the BOE president to work with me on the case (I also spoke to Rabbi Lezewnik, his rav). The BOE president said he doesn't trust me. But I never did anything to him or other BOE members except tell him how to win a T & E case. What does it mean to say he doesn't trust me? Was he insinuating that I am a crook? I cannot see any other reason why his trust has anything to do with the job. I thought the bottom-line only matters, or should matter, in a professional organization. The BOE president before him in 2009 also said he did not trust Mr. Andersen when I suggested making him superintendent. What is wrong with these people with this trust nonsense?
Bottom line is that true leaders, men that command the loyalty and confidence that make an organization successful, are somehow not trusted by the BOE, whatever that is supposed to mean. It certainly does not mean trust as in "public trust."
We invest too much taxpayer money into this organization to purposely disqualify true leaders from leadership. A Lang
