The problem is that Ger thinks that what they're doing is a mitzvah.

They say that they're suffering so much and so badly that they can't even say out of their mouth what is so bad about it. I don’t know what this is quoted from, but it has no bearing on most cases of not being able to see the insects on your vegetables with regular vision. The insects usually aren’t visible due to camouflage and hiding in crevices etc. not due to small size. Of course their small size doesn’t help but once you find them they are visible with regular human vision.
