- The "OU" Orthodox Union has certified a strain of lab-grown meat as kosher for the first time, marking a significant step forward for the food technology’s acceptance under Jewish dietary law by recognizing poultry products from Israeli startup SuperMeat as kosher. Certifying lab-grown meat is complicated because the meat cultivation process often starts with stem cells from living animals, and kosher law bars consuming any part of a living animal, and meat products must come from a slaughtered animal, and nothing can be derived from a living creature. SuperMeat’s lab-grown poultry sidesteps this requirement by taking the stem cells from eggs, in a process that could open the door for more kosher certification of poultry products.

  1. Much as I agree that the ADL is a leftist organization using (abusing) Jewish identity that it no longer holds, as a sword and shield against legitimate and deserved criticism, I'm still slightly wary about those who fight it using the "Jewish" in their opposition.

    1. The ADL is a leftist shill organization whose Jewish related actions only cause increased antisemitism. The fact you see them quoted in Right wing/frum publications is asinine.
I support whoever works to shut them down. Be it Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Donald Trump or Al Sharpton etc. They should have our full backing.

    2. Oh stop. The ADL isn’t so great but their criticism of the crazed Elon happens to be right - he allows vile anti-semites to spew on his platform.

    3. I'm fine with that. Better than driving them underground.
Hate against us will always be there. We should ignore it and move on. Do you really think the ADL non-stop harping with their ridiculous statistics will improve anything? It will just make it worse. Same goes for shutting down peoples' accounts . Let them say whatever they want and move on with life.

  2. The correct statement is that there are still girls waiting to force their choice of school to accept them. They've all been offered options.

  3. To the brilliant rosh Yeshiva and mashgiach that kicked out some struggling boys today for missing shachris. Do you think they will all beg to come back or do you realize that you may have destroyed some more lives today?

    1. Are these struggling boys in an accommodating yeshiva, or struggling boys who were pushed into Ivy League yeshivas?

  4. Ab - don't judge, I was in that situation a few years ago and the process is scarring! It's not as simple as you wish to make it sound, it is literally denei nefushes. Anything you say to dismiss the excruciating pain only shines a spot light on the fact that you know nothing about the process or you are from those pushing an agenda. Either way one clearly cannot truly care about children and their future if they can make blanket statements like this! Be careful what you say and judge, it could come back to bite!

    1. I too have been very involved in the parsha, and involved with a few of the current cases. I am very familiar with what I am saying. While there are exceptions, the current batch are not in that case and have all been offered options that are acceptable, with others from their previous class and caliber. We are not talking about putting a yeshivish child in a modern bais yaakov.

    2. The reality is that there may be some girls who might do better in the schools that they cant get into. But these schools are full with siblings and alumni and teachers daughters etc etc. Yes its not fair that a sibling has kedima over a more worthy non sibling and maybe the sibling policies should be changed . But if schools are full ,then the only choice is to go to a newer school that has room .

    3. Yes, the girls were offered options. Some were not tenable. No there were no one else going there, and she didn't know anybody, her principal was horrified and did all she could to help, but she was just ignored. It's a sad situation for some, and not the girl's fault

    4. No one has a right to their school of choice! It isnt either a tragedy if you must go to a school where you don't know anyone YET.....and good-hearted askanim shouldn't be bothered by such silly issues. they have more important things to tend to.

  5. If there are no consequences there are no rules, if there are no rules, there is chaos! what do you suggest? What's your plan of action? Just complaining?

    1. Right!
The RY who expels a bochur for missing Shacharis needs to feel the consequences of his actions. Otherwise, he can just do what he wants, without thinking of the benefit of the bochurim, causing chaos.

My plan of action is that a Va'ad be appointed above him, and no serious decisions can be made against a bochur until both sides have explained themselves to the Va'ad, and the RY has shown what alternative ideas he has tried.

  6. I know the askanim on the VAAD are working on the girls with no school yomom vlayla

  7. Shachris in yeshiva during Elul is a must if you miss it and don't respect it that is crossing a red line. A bochur of age is not a baby they have responsibilities with consequences. The beginning of the year they are very strict.

  8. Todays yeshivas all cowtown to the boys by letting them wear silly purimdik tiny brimmed hats, phase haircuts with the sides of their head shaved but with big chips, tight pants, sleeping in, etc etc. They are are producing a dor of future TLC Mordy Shtieble wimps. They should not throw them out of Yeshiva, but they should be dealt with!

    1. If anybody can enlighten me as to why the boys weet the hats the way they do brim up at the back of the head rather than wearing a hat the way it was meant to be. I'd love an explanation. My personal opinion is if that you are Telling them that wearing a hat os a must, then wearing it the way it was meant to be worn is a must.

  11. Do these boys who missed shachris live in wg? They’re not used to davening with a minyan. Their entire childhood they stood by the window waiting for their father to come home from shul.

    1. Sorry, but children should NEVER be forced to go to shul. Speak to mechancim in touch with reality. They will confirm that.
