  1. In spite of the township's feeble claims to want to widen route 9, the latest houses being built in the Oak and Vine neighborhood, front route 9 almost to the eventual sidewalk.

  2. The BOE has encumbered Lakewood taxpayers with $250 million in debt, of which, we are paying back 10% a year. It will be a billion dollars within five years. The State has been claiming for years that we have the lowest tax rate of any NJ urban area. There is a good change the legislature will remove the 2% tax increase cap and authorize a payroll tax because of the debt as it has in other urban areas that the state wanted to see an increase in the local levy. In the case of Lakewood, authorizing the new taxes would amount to imposing them, since the state monitors have to remain as long as the debt as had not been fully paid, and they have the responsibility to tax us to the full extent of the law that the law authorizes before requesting loans. The loans are coming out of the annual state budget and the state wants to shift it to Lakewood taxpayers. The BOE needs to support the ongoing litigation to fix the formula to avert this disaster. The truth is that the state is not paying its fair share and it needs to forgive the debt.

Don't blame chasidim, bmg work study program also comes from tax paper money. Who is to say that taxpayer money should go to BMG and not to build mikvahs
