Hespedim on the Satmar Rebbe by Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky and Rav Shneur Kotler
The Hespedim were delivered 44 years ago following the Petirah of the Satmar Rebbe Rav Yoel Teitelbaum ZTL whose Yartzheit is today 26 Av. Satmar use to stand as the symbol of Yidden should/ and do not have to change with trending styles. However what became of the shtriemel, the huge spiked shtriemels the Satmar goe with today make them look like fools.The flache beeber hits are flat on top . Even the classic Chulent tup hat has morphed to a odd thickly rimmed hat with a tiny pop on top. Speak about trend setters....LOL
ReplyDeleteActually, it’s really about who can drive the nicest car. Now they have to outdo themselves with the latest BMW Nazi car. And yes, BMW was pro Nazi and committed crimes against all these people’s grandparents during the war. But they “need” to drive a BMW, or an Audi, just to outdo yenems Cadillac. The Vilna Gaon writes that one who’s obsessed with money (I.e he needs recognition for his money), is part of the Erev Rav. No ifs or buts. Am I saying some Satmar people are erev rav? It’s possible, yes.

DeleteRav Leibel Willeger (the Torah Vodaas Rosh Kollel) was Rav Yaakov's chavrusa in Camp Ohr Shraga. He said that in all the years only once did Rav Yaakov take off. That was the day he was giving this hesped on the Satmar Rebbe because he as put it "they are going to be medayik in every word I say so I really need careful about what I prepare"
