- Reb Aaron Lang on the upcoming elections "Change is coming to the BOE and it's about time to give the people a voice".
Te district organization on all levels never comprehended the reality of Lakewood and the BOE never comprehended the district organization that it is elected to lead. So both the BOE and the organization are not properly discharging their duties. It's been like that for 20 years. No one at the Department of Education or Division of Law in the AG office is talking about a state takeover. There is no willingness in Trenton to get back into the business of taking over school districts. It is not going happen in the near future, anywhere, particularly in Lakewood.

  9. My comment about the unlikelihood of a state takeover of Lakewood was in response to a press report about "heavy opposition, from school officials, who feel it will lead to a state takeover of the district."

I have found over the past two decades is that they always get their facts wrong about the facts inside and outside the district. You can't even call it misinformation when no one has a clue as to the political reality of Trenton or how to run a district unique as Lakewood.

It's not a nefarious plot obviously and is intended as harmless fun, but it's also offensive and foolish. Each year they do something like this and draw a lot of attention to their camp. Last year they fooled people into thinking that the cars were cabs, this year it's another gimmick. A little sensitivity to the fact that we live among non-Jews would go a long way. Everyone I know whom I've mentioned this too is similarly against this gimmick. Time for it to stop. Not everything has to be done just to make a few extra dollars. We can be better than that.
