Alan Dershowitz says that there is currently enough evidence to indict former president Trump based on his reading of the highly redacted FBI affidavit. “Any grand jury in DC would indict Trump on the evidence that he had classified material in violation of various statutes,” Dershowitz, 83, told the NY Post by phone today — but cautioned the Department of Justice from pursuing the case.

The Harvard law professor cited the failure of the probe to meet what he called the Nixon and Clinton tests, the former being the need to establish broad bipartisan support, and the latter being a demonstration that Trump’s conduct is materially worse than Hillary Clinton’s own past mishandling of classified information

  3. "Minhag Ashkenazi begins saying לדוד ה' אורי tonight"

Minhag Ashkenaz (Yekkish-German) does not. Minhag Lita-Polin does.

    1. Here we have another one who thinks Frankfurt represents 'Yekkish-Germany'. Note - it does not. Germany was a large country, and their Minhagim do not dominate.

    2. Put aside Switzerland, Strasbourg,
      Hamburg, Wurzburg,
      (Fulda?,) Any others exist still?

    3. Frankfurt followed the old Minhag Ashkenaz the most of the major kehillos of Ashkenaz. That is a fact. Berlin followed Minhag Polin. An old kehillah, that follows the old ways, represents the mesorah more than others, hence minhag Frankfurt is the more faithful representative of Ashkenaz.

The Chasam Sofer wrote about Frankfurt a Main, from which he came, אחת היא לאומתה, אין בכל העולם דוגמתה.

    5. So Minhagei Hamburg are nothing? The large Yekkish Shul in London is based on Hamburg. Many others are based on Furthe.
Frankfurt's self esteem is largely based on their own mutual back slapping. Funny that it has almost ceased to exist.
Additionally, austritt is not the original Kehilla at all. And it was basically a failure.

    6. I didn't say Minhogei Hamburg are "nothing". Chas veshalom. Just that they are less Ashkenaz than Frankfurt. Frankfurt kept the old mesorah, going back to the Rishonim, more. You need to look back to the old heartland of Ashkenaz, Worms, Mayence, and Speyer, places like that where the Rishonim were, to see what old Ashkenaz was. Frankfurt is/was closer to them than Hamburg.

  4. Ahh, so as suspected that's what you were going after
Austritt was assuredly not a failure unless you have a bold modern orthodox agenda which you of course do. Many others throughout Germany and Beyond who didn't follow it to the nth degree in practice paid fealty to its Superior direction!
Iirc The remaining Grossgemeinde contained some who would be members of both communities due to legacy, and the rest basically lackluster Orthodox. Similar story in Holland, Austria, and Hungary

  5. Par for the course but ironic. Anything to water down Judaism.
How do progressive 'Modern' prefer to back the cobwebbed backward half-frei Grossgemeinde over forward progressive moving Austritt

  6. Mr cohen what are you talking about? Your comments never make sense.

  7. If, as presumed you are referring to the last:
The irony is a few decades ago modern orthodoxy was obsessed or pretended to be with Frankfurt . That was when it could be used to serve on the surface their contentions and arguments..
Those with knowledge of Modox sites and publications are aware that in recent decades as it is/was more and more obvious to the honest knowledgeable public that their sleight of hand was ringing hollow, they've been going out of their way to demean and minimize Frankfurt and what it's Austritt stood for. Anonymous 7:06 likely influenced by their blogs was being a poster boy for that.

That they represented and articulated the high order which they did so well and didn't have interest in compromisers & PR apologetics isa very concerning wounding shot across the bow and furthers pulls out the rug from underneath Modox centrist edifice.. The leading earlier conceptualized kehilla there and elsewhere was educated university of high order and yet driven for unequivocal unadulterated Jewish Destiny and Torah trajectory for us and for the planet have potential fatal implications for them if understood well eventually by the larger Orthodox public
