  2. "Expressing Support For Construction Of A Day Care Facility To Provide Childcare Slots To Facilitate Upward Mobility And Economic Development In The Township"

What is this about which askanim are gaining from this. There are over 50 day cares in town what is special about this is the township giving money for it.

    1. Question: Will those 50 day cares be forced to go out of business when BMG gets into the game?

  3. If you continue to promote non-commercial use in industrial park, you will be running businesses out of Lakewood. The trucks need ROOM to maneuver, which is how the industrial park was designed. Add more school busses and load it with cars/minivans that will no doubt be parking on the street, the freight carriers will stop serving Lakewood businesses.

  4. Very interesting about construction of a new day care as there is currently a shortage of morahs in day cares in lakewood (leading to inflated prices for subs)

    1. I think it's more that some day cares are underpaying their regular morahs.

  5. With respect to Rabbi Birnbaum, this attitude is *exactly* what caused this situation in the first place. Only when it's ehrliche yidden being affected do we finally stop and realize that many of the non-jewish world's norms and customs (zoning regulations in this case) are things of value that are designed for the public good. Maybe the lesson to take away is to think twice before rejecting everything that comes out of gentile society.

    3. The lesson to take is that we need to use common sense, nothing to do with taking lessons from gentile society.
For example, someone who doesn't stop at a stop sign is not using common sense, not anything to do with ignoring gentile norms.
The same goes for zoning laws.
It seems that you have an agenda to promote but I don't think it has anything to do with the issue at hand

    4. Absolutely right. My agenda is that Jews should be seen as ehrliche in the genuine sense by gentiles, not as people who look to cut corners when it benefits their in-group. I'm willing to bet you don't drink cholov stam even though "common sense" would dictate that there are no problems (including treife, in the biological sense) with it. Why? Because we recognize that there are greater considerations here than what our personal evaluations may be. Why do you automatically assume that secular law has no such parallel considerations? If everyone followed their "common sense" regarding zoning, the law would be meaningless. Isn't it commonly sense that a developer should be allowed to build right up to the absolute edge of their property, after all? They own it, don't they?

  6. Ameratzim. Zoning laws are in the torah.
    Migrash etc..
