    1. Do you understand that it's people that died with covid not from covid? Many of these people had cancer etc ans would have died anyways but they happened to have tested positive some time in the last 6 months before death and therefore are listed as a covid death. The positive tests are also from many that are asymptomatic. No reason to get excited by that.

      Delete
    2. I would like to introduce you to 2021, an age in which cancer is not a death sentence. People have been successfully cured from cancer. However, a cancer patient who contracts covid19 is at far greater risk of death. Exhibit No. 1 - Reb Elya Meir Sorotzkin.

No reason to get excited, but a reason to take precautions, as advised by medical experts.

    3. Mechilas Kvodcha - a Rosh Yeshiva is not "an exhibit".

    4. If the Rosh Yeshiva Zatzal was niftar from cancer after developing complications from Covid, and the conversation is clearly about that specific topic, then the Rosh Yeshiva would definitely be Exhibit for this specific conversation.

Obviously non one is saying that the Rosh Yeshiva Zatzal should be an exhibit in a museum. But you already knew that.

If you can prevent one death? One kidney transplant wouldn't you do that?
Is your life so impacted that it bothers you when people want to be careful? Why do you care???

    2. I am not the one who makes decisions on whether to mask or not; whether to open up Shul and yeshivos, we have rabonim who are deciding which takonos to make. I only have issue with news reports that are designed to create hysteria that aren't grounded in facts

    3. Yes my mother was nifteres from covid and only covid. She was a super vibrant healthy women and it makes absolutely no sense. We understand that it was Hashem and not covid and that it was Her time to go but we do need to do hishtadlus and its so beyond scary to see that although we think its over it is not. Ill be honest, until my mother got covid even though i had other relatoves get it i did think it was politicized and made into a hysteria. Now that its hit so hard i realize that its so real and so scary and i cry for the fact that i didnt feel enough pay for others over this year. Noone should ever know of such a tzaar and may we be zoche to greet mashiach right away so we can end all of the suffering - please Hashem!!

    2. Why a new judaism. Authentic judaism has always and will always value life above all other than the 3 cardinal sins. Authentic judaism believes that everyone should take precautions. Unfortunately, it today's world many people don't have the mental stamina to uphold authentic judaism and have "reformed" it to follow their wishes.

    3. New as in breakoff from what was hijacked.

Shficas damim being one of the cardinal sins is the greatest example of valuing human life above all ,. There is a interesting book written by david goldman called how civilizations die and why islam is dying to , where he expounds on this topic and his theory that the whole success of the usa is that its founding fathers built it on this torah value , of value of human life above all.

Sadly we and the amish are the only large populations that felt our roght to practice our religion comes before risking the life of others , and better sacrifice a few for the sake of the masses .

    6. It is not in the criteria, for those who don't learn בית יוסף. Those who do, might have a different view. But the 'da'as Torah' that we have been hearing is as far removed from Torah as it always is. None of the mekilim in pikuach nefesh actually quoted a source in Torah, and the little they did mention no shaychus to this sugya. Lots of foolishness was said by people who should know better, but the loudest of the mekilim in pikuach nefesh did not quote anything of substance.

    8. many people died as a result of the lockdowns. it is unknown if the lockdowns saved any lives. you can't decide what is and isn't pikuach nefesh based on your silly ideas and then preach to everyone else with your holier than thou blah blah blah.
if you really want to start a new branch of judaism, go right ahead. don't let the door hit you on the way out.

    9. To kay dee. The founders of this country absolutely did not place the value of human life above everything. Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of independence places the pursuit of happiness right next to life and liberty, as an equal right.
"Give me liberty, or give me death!" is a quotation attributed to Patrick Henry from a speech he made to the Second Virginia Convention on March 23, 1775.
The the most poignant one of all,
“Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils”

The phrase was adopted from a toast written by General John Stark, New Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War, on July 31, 1809. Poor health forced Stark to decline an invitation to an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington. Instead, he sent his toast by letter.

    10. Pls refer to the book all your critisim , just read it first , equality is the automatic reaction to value of individual human life and if there is no equality that means the essence of human life is nothing so your quote from jefferson is irrelevant. Sorry to hesr you translate happiness as going to orlando on chol hamoed , jefferson was referring to happiness as the byproduct of freedom and equality not the ability to go around and live bshrirus libi.

    11. Tziyoni - aren't we fortunate that we have a Torah to teach us how to act and we don't need to use the strange beliefs of some Goyim. ברוך שנתן תורה לעמו ישראל ברוך הוא. In our Torah, life is one of the supreme values, and it certainly trumps liberty and suchlike.

Anon 5:53 - I have found it quite strange to read things like your comment. With no evidence, lockdowns are blamed for deaths, yet with a ton of evidence, people still won't believe how many lives it saved.
Historically, there have been medical emergencies. I know of no case that the Poskim advised ignoring medical advice. I know of no incident in which Rabbonim deemed their 'da'as Torah' above the research of governmental medical authorities. I don't think it is them who are inventing a new branch of Judaism. The original Torah Judaism is not on the side of those who would ignore the recent pandemic.

      Delete
    12. sorry if this doesn't fit with your fascist worldview, but it is 100% clear that lockdowns kill people, cause suicides and emotional illness, as well as obesity and many other health problems. it is also clear that lockdowns and mask never saved any lives. as you say, the torah places great importance on human life, which is why we all should strongly oppose lockdowns and masks and the fascists who support these clear dangers to human life.

      Delete
    13. Anonymous 8:26. I actually think that the founders beliefs were quite firmly grounded in the Torah. That’s so strange. The entire holiday of Pesach i.e. the birth of klal Yisrael, is it a celebration of liberty. The Torah that you mentioned? That couldn’t be given until we were freed from bondage. Look at the first of the ‏עשרת ,הדיברות Belief in God is intrinsically tied to being free. Slaves don’t have the freedom to value life. Just my two cents.

      Delete
    14. To kay dee- I believe my quote from Jefferson is very relevant to this conversation. You would be correct in your interpretation of his words if it just said happiness, but it says the PURSUIT of happiness which would definitely include traveling to Orlando for Pesach. Maybe even bishrirus libi. That’s one of the things that makes America so unique. Once upon a time.....

    15. Anon 10:16 - Your 100% clarity seemingly does not have much evidence along with it. It seems to be a quasi-religious belief, based on faith and faith alone. That may be your privilege, but the Torah and Halacha does not deal with things like that. They traditionally relied on doctors and their evidence, not on faith based medicine. You may continue to use your faith-based medicine, as long as you do not transgress any halachos on the way. I don't mind if you call my worldview fascist, as long as you understand that I don't really have a worldview. I just learn Torah and see what it tells me.

Tziyoni - I don't know if you are aware of the Meshech Chochma's words in Parshas Bechukosai, but he predicted people like you. He writes about a Galus in a country, and how Yidden start to fall for the belief systems of the country in which they live, and confuse "Berlin for Jerusalem", or in this case - "Virginia conventions and toasts by generals instead of actual Torah". We are not Russian, Hungarian, Polish, Italian, Morrocan, Israeli or American. All of those belief systems are nonsense, destined for the dustbins of history. The Torah did not make liberty an absolute belief, or even an important one. Personal liberty and autonomy are not Torah beliefs, we have communal obligations that would remove our personal autonomy. Including the obligation not to spread disease.

    16. Tziyoni - pursuit means gashmiyus ??? Because anything spiritual is not a pursuit , its just a follow the masses spuless act? . Yes everyone should have the right to pursue a life of freedom and ability to teach his children his religion and grow in his spiritual path .. but i guess your in orlando and to you cheirus means gashmiyus only. Thats why we ate matzah Right when we got free, thats why we eat maror to make us realize that true happiness comes from indulgence in taava like the egyptians , to use other humans to our best interest because beshrirus lebi eilech.

    17. anon, 4:43: so others have to rely on "doctors and their evidence", but you "just learn torah and see what it tells you"? sounds legit.

    18. Exactly! He was referring to people like you who stopped believing in common sense and just believe whatever liberals tell him!

    19. To kay dee- when in the course of the conversation you begin to make assumptions about me, the conversation must end. I’ve been home the entire Yom Tov as I am every year, and loving every minute of it.

      Delete
    20. Two anonymous 4:43 - “Predicting people like me“ isn’t a very hard thing to do if you know enough history and a little bit of anthropology. Adopting some beliefs and culture from those around us is nothing new. Especially when outside of our natural habitat. It’s not by mistake that we use ancient Persian astronomical names for our months until today. Or that some of the transmitters of the Torah had Greek names. Or that the Talmud was written in Aramaic. Or that Saadia Gaon wrote Emunos V’Daios in Arabic. Or that Rabbi Yehuda Halevi and Ibn Ezra wrote romantic poetry for their Muslim patrons. Or Rabeinu Avraham Ben Harambam Writing that Sufi Muslims “imitate the prophets of Israel and walk in their footsteps“. Or as a result of the Renaissance most Italian Rabbis did not have beards at all, or trimmed them, such as Rama miPano and Ramchal.
As you can see, It’s quite a natural phenomenon.

All who died, including the R”Y, did not die from Covid.
Maybe heart failure, maybe kidney failure, maybe breathing failure, maybe other problems, but Nothing from COVID.
At least that’s the ‘suppose it’ fact in Lakewood.
If you don’t show the medical records and publicize it then it’s not Covid.
All the people suppository getting Covid is just one big conspiracy.
So stop publishing False Covid stuff here.....

I wish all the above was true but in our community the only legit doctors are the ones who NEVER went to medical school but know all medical facts from their untrained friends and what they read and decide suits them.
