- From a email that was sent out by a Respected Rov following up on the letter posted in Lakewood shuls by TAG regarding new kosher APP's for Jewish videos and musicand podcasts
-There is a new device being marketed to the Olam Hatorah by the frum media [which tragically has no rabbinic oversight].
This malevolent device can potentially wreak havoc on the minds and souls of young & impressionable future Talmidei Chachamim and Imahos B'Yisroel.
Be aware -
1. This device is essentially a smartphone and only time will tell if it is truly "Internet safe".
2. Who exactly is determining the kashrus of all the videos it contains? One has to be a fool to assume that all the content on the device is of the type that ehrliche yidden are comfortable allowing their children to see.
3. Even if every single video on this nefarious device is truly kosher, putting endless videos in the hands of a child is a sure-fast way to perpetually distract a child from his/her studies, besides for the long term harmful effects it will have on their brain capacity & function.
4. Even just the audio part of this device contains grave danger to young Bnei Torah. Many of the singers featured are frum in name only. Their jarring tunes and provocative lyrics share more in common with hellinistic culture than with the culture of מתתיהו ובניו דרך ישראל סבא
5. Although formidable parental controls are being offered allowing discerning parents to control exactly what their children will see or listen to. The sad reality is that once this powerful device is in the hands of the children, the super majority of parents won't be able to withstand the relentless pressure of their children to make more and more of its very alluring content available to them, and at all times.

Perhaps for the type of children who anyway have free access to poorly filtered Smartphones, this device might be beneficial, but for the children of Bnei Torah who have sacrificed so much to keep their children technologically pure, this device is the proverbial wolf in barely discernible sheep's clothing. It should be considered beyond the pale for anyone who is part of the Olam HaTorah!

  5. I think TAG count as askanim, so I'm waiting for the legions of commenters to accuse them of cynically acting for profit.

Not going to hold my breath, though.

    1. TAG doesn't really make much profit. they don't charge for their services.

  6. " only time will tell if it is truly "Internet safe".. Right. True.

Same thing happened with the Ani Choma propaganda. Askonim convinced Roshei Hayeshiva to only allow their phones. All the others with filters are no good. Don't buy a Sunbeam which doesn't even have the kishkas to go on line or downloads apps. Only buy our phone!! Oh, and our phones are locked to our service which charges a fortune for talk only service.

So they fooled all the Roshei Yeshiva. They even got them to make an asifa to promote their propaganda.

And now bochurim are getting full open internet on these phones without even trying!!

But if you have a Sunbeam phone at home which you use bein hazmanim,. they'll throw you out of Yeshiva!!

Don't trust these "askonim"! And the Roshei Hayeshiva an Rabonim only know the information they are fed!

  7. Can we know the name of the respected rav?
    Which respected rav has email?
If respected rabonim have email then the children can have a filtered device with music.

    1. Of course respectful rabbis have email. As it's a necessity for many things. But of course a person that uses internet for blogging etc. Can't understand why a person let alone a rav will need internet

    1. The Lakewood Township Committee is obstinately refusing to return to in-person meetings. They don't believe the residents are worthy enough of being in the same room during their meetings.

I'm sure they'll invent some manipulative excuse for this practice by making it as if they're doing us a favor. Let's not forget that these guys are real politicians, who have mastered the art of double talk and manipulation.

    2. This insanity by our Township officials will go on until a majority of them will vote to resume in-person meetings. Either they change it on their own or we will change our elected leaders to people who will.
