Monday December 12 News Updates Lakewood

- U.S. News & World Report has released its ranking of New Jersey’s best hospitals in Maternity care  Eight hospitals made the list. The ranking was based on a number of categories, including patient outcomes, nurse staffing, patient services, certain surgeries and technology. The top ranking is morristown medical center, Jersey shore hospital  came in at number 3 see list 

- Health officials in Europe and the UK are now urging parents to look out for symptoms of scarlet fever in their children following a spike in cases driven by a recent increase in Strep A infections. 

- Elon Musk: Releases more  Twitter  files on the banning of Trump" Under pressure from hundreds of activist employees, Twitter deplatforms Trump, a sitting US President, even though they themselves acknowledge that he didn’t violate the rules"

- Going up on Squankum Rd at  the Lakewood/Howell under construction a few hundred rental apartments on the former Tilton auto junk yard. The frames of some buildings  have been completed.

Power outage on Oberlin st after truck takes out pole. Yeshivas Orchos Chaim and nearby businesses have no electricity. The school sent a message to parents to come pick up their children.

- Gas in Lakewood  averaging $3.30 a gallon

- CHEMED/LRRC awarded $915,000 to increase covid vaccinations in Lakewood as part of a federal grant issued by NJ senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez. OHI of Lakewood received $300k to push the covid shots in the community.

- Sussex county, NJ received 4 inches of snow last night, some school districts in Passaic County have dalyed openings 

- Lakewood Township officials are l proposing to pave the dirt road portion of Vermont Avenue from Essex Street to Oak Street, FAA News reports.

-A Hachtara was held for Rav Aaron Zisow shlita who will serve as a Rav of a shul in the Holly Oaks neighborhood of Manchester,NJ. The growing community has a few shuls with hundreds of families ka"h.

- A 12 story scaffolding collapsed in Givat Zeev outside Yerushalayim. Two workers killed and pulled from the rubble, three injured. One of those killed is a terrorist that was freed in the Gilad Shalit deal According to media reports.

- Hatzolah central Jersey issues safety alert for homeowners to have illuminated street address signs so members can locate the home right away and not lose precious moments looking for a house in the event of a emergency.

- Tomorrow a runoff mayoral election will be held in Manchester between 2 republican candidates.

- Bnos Bracha application for a simcha hall will ne heard next week at the planning  board meeting. The township allowed banquet halls in that area.

  1. There is a clothing gemach in Westgate called Pinwheel at 10 Kelmwoods (enter from the back. It's in the basement). It is what deja nu used to be. New and gently used clothing most for $1-5. Currently they have a lot of coats. The quality is good. I would hate to have them close because they do not have the budget to advertise. Worth the trip.

  2. Does anyone know whether the former Tilton junkyard has been properly remediated? It was a junkyard for many years, before Lakewood became Lakewood, and oil and gasoline and grease and transmission fluid must have sunk deeply into the ground.

  3. It's nice that hatzzolah is concerned about safety with light up numbers how about the same campaign calling out the township officials for the dangerous state of Lakewoods roads. No side walks, dark roads with no street-lights, hundreds of accidents pedestrians hit, Traffic slowing down emergency vehicles, fire engines that can't get through developments

    Stop blaming the people for the irresponsible actions of those in power.

  5. How many people have to get injured or die? There isn't any vaccine that protects against COVID-19. They're giving mRNA clot shots immune destruction depopulation poison.
