Whats going on with the Lakewood township committee
Lakewood mayor Ray Coles is expected to be appointed to a 6th consecutive term at the reorganization meeting this coming January 2nd but unlike before covid when the meeting was a joyous event attended by dignitaries, community leaders and residents the meeting will be virtual on zoom. The swearing in will be done over the phone as it was during the pandemic. At the same time the Zoning and planning boards have been holding meetings in person and the BOE announced they will do so as well beginning in 2023.
The question many are asking is why is the township not holding in person meetings? What are they hiding? Why are they denying the public the ability to attend meetings and speak to them directly. they are the 4th largest town in NJ with over 150k residents. some keen observers have mentioned that some members on the committee have not been heard from at all lately, and even during the zoom meetings the committeemen don't even show their face on the camera but only t have the audio turned on. Township members have attended and seen at public events around Lakewood with packed crowds so that can't be an excuse for keeping things remote.
Coles is up for reelection this year so is Mike Delia, yet reports are that Mike wont be running for reelection opening up a seat on the township for potential candidates which can make a interesting primary race this spring
A petition was recently launched declaring the mayor for Supreme leadership in Lakewood See HERE
The public should have the right to personally see all the committee members and that they have the mental capacity to serve and to examine their cognitive skills.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they scared to face the public
WHAT ARE THEY HIDING
They are hiding Mike Delia. And Ackerman is part of the cover-up.
DeleteThe committee-men are unable to look their constituents in the face while they vote to give themselves huge pay raises and free lifetime health insurance benefits and whatever else they think of to take care of their future.
DeleteCommitteman lichtenstein made a wedding and the committee members were there this covid excuse is baloney they are using it to hide or cover up something from the public
ReplyDeleteRay Coles was at the daled minim shuk with thousands of people there is no excuse for these shenanigans by our elected officials
When did Lichtenstein make a wedding?
DeleteThey gave themselves free health insurance for life after serving 20 years on the committee they are eligible in a year maybe that is why they are hogging the seat at all costs.
ReplyDeleteRecall Coles!
ReplyDeleteWho would you like to see take the D'Elia (and Coles) spot(s) on the Township Committee?
ReplyDeleteThe Lakewood residents receive terrible treatment from our committee men. In other towns the governing body shows respect and decency to their taxpayers. Why did the VAAD endorse politicians like these?? Where's the pashute derech eretz?
ReplyDeleteThe Lakewood Vaad is to blame here
ReplyDeleteThey are incharge of representing the community and let the townspeople get disrespected by self serving politicians
The local media keep silent as cowards while they call out Jackson politicians non stop.
This stinks of dictatorship and the carefully crafted ask the mayor articles are pure propaganda
Vote all the bums out
Yes!!!
DeleteAll the vaad accomplish is that no one else can step up and accomplish! If you try to anything constructive before you even start ,you are antagonizing the vaad since they are in power . Suggest that they do it instead , you're met with ridicule
DeleteOk. So who's running against the current twp committee members? We can't only vote against. We have to have someone to vote for also.
ReplyDeleteAs a community, we've run out of people who are willing to risk their lives and livelihoods to attempt to represent the population on the township committee. Perhaps Belz, Satmar or Viznitz will save Lakewood.
DeleteWe demand a sign of life and mental acuity ....Don't let them get away with it. There's a reason they keep the meetings short, and schedule them in the afternoon when people are unlikely to watch. ....
