Lakewood Gridlocked

-Article in Lakewood  shopper  this past week.

It comes in the wake of brutal traffic where Lakewood residents were stuck for hours a few days in a row on the roadways. Township officials have not publcly apologized or even sympathized with the community for it and instead they chose to ignore or put out irrelevant news items to friendly media outlets instead of addressing the problem it gets blamed on others while locals suffer daily.

"Gridlock Lakewood" this past issue following a few days when accidents have brouht traffic to a standstill leaving residents stuck for hours on the roads. see below for full article "most of the developments in town were not built with traffic or even safety concerns in mind Lakewood is in a state of emergency vehicles have trouble getting around town because of congestion. Blamebis constantly being diverted on state and county roads. Opening up more paper streets and building new roads is one part of fixing it. The time for games and shtick  at the planning and zoning boards has long passed their priority must be to help the citizens of Lakewood than a fee individuals.

  1. The Committee is planning to adopt a banquet hall ordinance with a crazy low parking requirement. They are refusing to accept even the planning board's recommendation and are trying to let the school owners get away with even less parking than what the planning members voted on. These guys are really nuts! They just keep on voting for more gridlock each time they get together.

    2. I don't think the issue is weddings but the smaller simchos. I recently had to drive down 14th street at night and there was a vort going on in a shul on the side street, with a teeny tiny parking lot and a street that was clearly not built wide enough for 2 lanes of traffic with care parked on both sides (and a few double parked). The road was gridlocked and impassable!

  2. How come they are nuts? They plan moving out to a nearby Township as soon as convenient
Paid for by those they helped

  4. We've been talking about voting out the members of the current Lakewood local government for years now. The problem is that we haven't put up any good alternatives for a long time. If we put up some really good people to run against the people who are currently holding office, I think the citizens of Lakewood are ready to vote for a change. Who's up to it? Please step forward!

  6. until the committee men we elect will represent the tzibbur as opposed to the yeshiva
nothing will change their needs to be term limits on local elections so noone is their too long to be paid off to vote a certain way to benefit developers or private interests while the rest of the public suffers
the traffic in this town was and is a direct result of overbuilding, over crowding, density and now we are all suffering unless the state widens route 9 into 2 lanes north and south it will only get worse its like route 17 to the mountains on a weekend but this is each and every day a few times each day and then
some of us will end up with heart conditions and high blood pressure and the builders laugh at the rest of us as they definitely dont live in the townhouses they built
you can laugh but all this is sadly true

    1. Not sure how all the congestion represents the "Yeshiva". How does the Yeshiva benefit from congestion.

More likely it benefited an individual who was connected to the Yeshiva, and he would throw the Yeshiva a bone every now and then to keep his influence.

  7. The state will never widen rt 9. They've been talking about it for over 40 years, it's all talk.

  8. It takes about 20 years to be eligible for a municipal pension. Menashe, Meir and Mayor are all close to that point, they will retire as soon as they hit that magic number.

  9. The saying the path to hell is paved with good intentions is very apropo to the voted and appointed members of planning and zoning boards
They’re actually adding a wing just for Lakewood in gehenim and are taking closed bids ( why should it be any different then here in lkwd )

  10. Your assumption that they have good intentions is very mistaken.
