  1. Why are girls H.S. having orientation today when there are dozens of girls without a school?!!

    1. Those girls can attend orientation at any school of their choice.
Maybe they’ll figure out after orientation that is best for them to attend their assigned schoo.

    2. Why are we short a few high schools and the bloggers have done nothing to open more schools or at least pay people to open them ?

    3. I don't know what the solution is with girls high schools, but whatever they are doing no is not working. I don't blame the existing schools, they have 40 kids in a class.

Opening a girls high school is a massive financial commitment, you need a couple hundred thousand dollars in the bank to start, not many people can do that. Then on top of that, once you put the money together, and put in the huge amount of working in getting it up and running, the Vaad dictates who you can accept and who you can't, which can cause a young school to fail.

the most reasonable solution would seem to be that more elementary schools need to open high schools, the funding is still an big hurdle to get over

    4. The Vaad is forcing schools to take way more than 40 per class. The Vaad forces schools to take kids who need special tutoring and mentoring and the Vaad does not provide the schools any money for that. The Vaad does not provide the schools even one dollar to add classes, hire hew teachers etc. But they demand that the schools do all that and it's the schools headache where to get the funding from .

    5. What special power does the Vaad use to force schools to listen?

    6. What power does the Vaad have to force *anyone* to listen?

      Delete
    7. They get the Rosh Yeshivas to do the forcing and put the schools under duress that the school will be known as a school that does not listen to the Rosh Yeshivas . Now if they would only get the Rosh Yeshivas to help with the funding for all the weak and problem kids they force onto the schools ,.

  2. "Just keep putting masks on your children.."
"Usually that means that the younger/healthier will go out , while the elderly/unhealthy will stay home.

But again; it's up to each individual.. "
" every person has the right to do what they want"
Etc etc etc & those are milder

How about go fress Chazer and keep your hands' off the computer and your mouths' closed

In the interim some older people will live longer & without being imprisoned

is what you value you and your crowds' sickeningly selfish conveniences
go throw away every last shred of your Teffilin And  Shabbos candles
    Brutal wicked shgotzim
how about  go lock your families into a dungeon so the other people could be healthy

    1. I have never seen more twisted logic.
Normal logic would say that those that are at risk should take steps to protect themselves. It may be hard but that's what they need to do.
But you are advocating just the opposite, that we should lock up the children, who are NOT at risk, so that the old people should have all the freedom of movement they want.
That's like saying that we should lock up all law abiding citizens so that all criminals should be able to walk the streets safely ( I could already see the comments coming. "SO YOU ARE SAYING OLD PEOPLE ARE LIKE CRIMINALS ???!!! YOU ARE SO SICK !!!" No, this is just an analogy)
And btw our children ARE LOCKED UP IN DUNGEONS so to speak. The senseless rules of masks, no social interaction and fear amount to basically that.
We have a worse problem than corona. It's people like you who are the problem.

    3. Those older stay home when it's icy but we don't shut them in
we visit  and they are respected
which arguably is more important for our next generation more than permitting and allowing them to do everything else !
while now  they and those who are immunocompromised end up being shunted and ostracized

The  older people are going crazy themselves  being locked up while everyone else is doing what they want and becoming more fatalistic about their own lives and  becoming moreHefker
      And guess what
all of our lives are becoming devalued  everyone these days across the multi-ethnic Multicultural Spectrum values life less than less than they did say in April
And who bears major responsibility for that!

  5. Several elementary schools have clearly stated that they wont open high schools because its financial suicide . You can manage with a boys mesivta because in Lakewood there are a few hundred talented yungeleit who will teach for next to nothing just to get a shtele . But there is a very limited pool of the really talented high school teachers and they won't work if they dont get paid a normal salary. Many of them have just given up and gone to work in businesses for better pay. Plus the high schools have to keep the girls happy and occupied with a lot of extra curricular and mechaneches mentoring and that all costs lots of money.

  6. The high schools need to switch from subject based teachers, which cause the expenses to be so high. Switch to no more than 2 Hebrew and 2 English teachers. At 6500$ with and average class of 30, this should be sustainable.

    1. would you take any job for $6500? what planet do you live on?

      Delete
    2. Multiply $65,000 by 30 and you get - $1,950,000. The teachers gets $200,000 per year altogether. Another $200,000 is for the upkeep of the building. And the non-profit that is left over is given to the messiras nefesh yid in charge.
And he can be mosser nefesh for each of four classes, and take home lots of non-profit.
      What is the problem?

    3. Can't really understand your gibberish. Are you saying that tuitions are 65,000 per year per parent ?

      Delete
    4. Where do get the number $65,000?
      Tuition is $6500

      Delete
    5. CD must have miscalculated. Remove a zero and let's see what happens. I will cut and paste, with a zero removed.
      Multiply $6,500 by 30 and you get - $195,000.

Now let us work it out. We have two teachers, each working for $70,000 per year (double what they currently get for full time jobs). There is $55,000 per class leftover for school expenses. But schools don't have just one class, they have four grades and multiple classes in each grade. If we go with three classes per grade, we have 12 classes. 12 times $55,000 is $660000, which pays for two principals at $90,000 each, leaving $480,000 for everything else. The money for the dinner can pay for the messiras nefesh

    6. Your numbers are so way off on both the income and expense side ,its laughable.

But a simple question . The laws of supply and demand dictates thst any business with good 9rofut potential has many people who go into that field and open those businesses. There are investors who will invest millions . There is a tremendous demand for new high schools. So why don't you open up such a lucrative business. There are many investors who will be glad to invest and fund all your expenses up front for a small per cent of the huge profits you will he making .

      Delete
    7. The reason I don't open a messiras nefesh business is because I have integrity, I refuse to force people to pay for a product and bask in the unearned glory of my messiras nefesh.
I don't open a messiras nefesh business because I cannot play games with Yiddishe neshamos.
And most people feel like that. Those who don't open messiras nefesh businesses, with predictable results.

  7. First of all the 6500 is full tuition. In many of the high schools , the vast majority in some schools over 80 per cent, are not paying anywhere close to that but closer to the mid 4s. When they pay.

Second of all the high schools are competing with a very tough "street" and other yetzer horas. So they do a great job keeping the kids happy with extra curricular and mentors, mechaneches and GO and those things cost the schools a lot of money. Plus , there are really not enough very talented high school teachers around because many have gone to work in businesses, so if you want a good school you have to pay decently. Not like Mesivtas where the most talented yungeleit are willing to teach for slave labor

    ReplyDelete
  8. The problem we have here is that by the time people send their girls to high school many of them have 6 or 7 tuitions or more . So while they had no oribkem laying 4300 to 4500 for their primary kids, they are now maxed out and want to psy the same fir high school which costs much more to run. So the high schooks getting these tuitions while running a high class high school program is not sustainable. In out of town, everybody knows that the cost of high school us substantially more than elementary. In Lakewood its not .

  9. The only reason we have many Mesivtas is because the yungekeit are wulling to work for very little. If every Mesivta had to pay their Rebbeim a good salary , then we would have a shortage if Mesivtas also.

  10. Mesivtos and Yeshivos also go around collecting from Everyone in the world ...Girls high schools make one Dinner a Year for the parents
..it seems that no one else has an interest in supporting Girls schools or H.S.....why that is so I do not know

    1. People support boys schools because they support Torah. They mistakenly are not machshiv girls schools the same way. Then they wonder why there are no schools for their girls.

  11. . “Where is the ‘bein adam lachaveiro‘?” he asked. “When a spiritually corrupt person comes to the bais medrash, then we have to be tolerant, but if someone comes without a mask, we can throw him out?”

I'm not asking this L'Kanter and I humbly take my place among the grubber baal habatim and feeble minded so can someone explain this in a way that even I can understand.

When a spiritually corrupt person or even a Rosha comes to the bais medrash what possible L'shem Shamayim for the purpose of Torah or Tefilah reason would there be to tell him to leave?

If a person is being a potential mazik to others of course they should be asked to leave.

What do you do with the Gemara (Sanhedrin 11A) where Rav Yehuda HaNosi said that whoever is giving the garlic in the Beis HaMedrash should leave? Rav Chiya and everyone else got up and left not to embarrass the person who was causing the smell. If Rav Yehuda HaNosi was willing to throw someone out of the Beis HaMedrash over a garlic smell Kal V'Chomoer someone potentially spreading a serious disease.
