Tuesday January 21 News Updates Lakewood

Weather: 21° and overcast. Very cold tonight with a low of 7°F. New Jersey will experience its coldest conditions of the winter so far over the next few days, with temperatures staying below freezing until Friday, according to forecasters.

Highs will only reach the upper teens and low 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday, before dropping into the single digits overnight. Wind chill values will range from 5°F to -5°F, the National Weather Service reports.


- ICE has created a tip line where anyone can report pro-terror students on visas.

- The Trump administration has ordered every government agency to shut down their DEI offices by tomorrow at 5 PM. Tomorrow 
The White House’s Office of Personnel Management notified heads of agencies and departments that they must begin taking steps to close all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offices by the end of the day Wednesday and place government workers in those offices on paid leave. Send a notification to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs.
Take down all outward facing media (websites, social media accounts, etc) of DEIA offices.

The siyum will be led by his son-in-law, Rav Moshe Yehuda Halpern Shlita. Divrei zikaron will be delivered by The Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Dovid Schustal Shlita, and Rav Gershon Levi Shlita of Pine Street Shul.

- The New Jersey Lottery announced that a single $32 million Pick-6 jackpot ticket was purchased at the Quick Mart on Bennetts Mill Road in Jackson. A press conference will be held at the store later this afternoon.

- Marco Rubio has officially been sworn in as Secretary of State by Vice President J.D. Vance.

- 2 frum yiddin were  pardoned by president Trump included in the list of 1500 who were arrested for January 6th at the capitol.
One was sentenced to eight months in prison the son of a NY Judge.
And the other a former editor at Jewish press was Sentenced to four months in prison, four months of home detention, 24 months of supervised release, and ordered to pay $10,539 in fines and restitution.

- The Lakewood Planning Board has canceled tonight’s meeting, which has been postponed to February 4. Two major applications will be discussed:
Yeshiva Chemdas HaTorah on Cross Street to create 128 lots, adding over 500 cars.
Stone Mountain Estates LLC's preliminary and final major subdivision to create 68 lots off New Hampshire and Erica Streets.

- In a letter to President Trump today, New Jersey Governor Murphy urged the newly sworn-in president to eliminate New York’s $9 congestion pricing toll for drivers entering parts of Manhattan. Murphy notes that this is an area where a Democratic governor and a Republican president can find common ground.

-Conservative activists who helped Trump flip votes in Pennsylvania are now focusing on New Jersey in an effort to turn the state red in this year’s election. Social media users are encouraging them to target the Lakewood NJ voting base and bring out those votes.

- A deaf lip reader suggests Obama asked Bush how they could “stop what’s happening” during Trump’s inauguration, according to the New York Post. It remains unclear whether Obama was referring to President Trump’s second term or alluding to the crowd’s rapturous applause.

  1. Just to make clear, this "celebrity chef" is a Palestinian supporter, despite claims that he's a peacenik. His staff has been caught attacking Jews. He's popular cause he's based in hopelessly liberal Washington DC.

It was a bad thing to pardon January 6 treasonous instigators, especial the Proud Boys that incited the riot and attack upon Congress, the highest branch of government, but historically, Jefferson Davis was out in two years (maybe rebellion was not treasonous because the question of succession was not yet decided), Aaron Burr trying to become Emperor of the Southwest got off. The Whiskey Rebellion. The country historically had a, perhaps admirable, perhaps not, tendency to forgive the seditious acts of the other side (the other party) even when they took up violence against the government. That is American exceptionalism.
