Hashkafa Q&A

Hashkafa with Reb Gershon Ribner Shlita

How senior members of the Brisker family interact with each other Olam Hayeshivos policy to relegate sensitive nisyonos to a private forum Will the prevalent temptation of profanity ever end Why the Torah exempts women from marriage and childbearing

  1. R' Chaim Shmulevits addressed the #1 already a half century ago.
Already then the brothers could barely speak to each other, and about each other.
He used them as the personification of what happens when a family is seriously deficient "felt" in learning and living of mussar.
RGR alibi can't be serious? Where has he come in from?

    1. There was no love lost between Reb Chaim Shmuelevitz and the Briskers.

The Brisker Rav already expressed himself sharply against the hesped RCS said at the levaya of Reb Zeidel Semiaticki. On last week's parsha.

  2. Rav Haym Solovetchik (son of RYBS) speaks often of how he's on good terms with his Yerushalaymi cousins (and uncle z"l), often invited to Shabbat meals (he lives in Yerushalayim)

  5. It would seem to me that in Brisk they don’t mention the mispacha because they are giving over the mesorah as they heard “fun der tatteh”. I heard shiur from Rav Dovid Solovachick for three years. Only once did I hear him say over anything in shiur from his uncle, Rav Moshe Solovachick . Someone like R’ Chaim (ben Hagriz) Solovachick is so clearly not an alternate version of what der tatteh said that there is no reason not to mention him.
