R' Chaim Shmulevits addressed the #1 already a half century ago.
ReplyDeleteAlready then the brothers could barely speak to each other, and about each other.
He used them as the personification of what happens when a family is seriously deficient "felt" in learning and living of mussar.
RGR alibi can't be serious? Where has he come in from?
There was no love lost between Reb Chaim Shmuelevitz and the Briskers.
DeleteThe Brisker Rav already expressed himself sharply against the hesped RCS said at the levaya of Reb Zeidel Semiaticki. On last week's parsha.
R' CS had a rather low opinion of the sons
DeleteRav Haym Solovetchik (son of RYBS) speaks often of how he's on good terms with his Yerushalaymi cousins (and uncle z"l), often invited to Shabbat meals (he lives in Yerushalayim)

ReplyDeleteHe doesn't. These q deserve to be. It's overdue.
Deletethe brisk one did not deserve to be. one of the most childish questions and answers ever
DeleteIt would seem to me that in Brisk they don’t mention the mispacha because they are giving over the mesorah as they heard “fun der tatteh”. I heard shiur from Rav Dovid Solovachick for three years. Only once did I hear him say over anything in shiur from his uncle, Rav Moshe Solovachick . Someone like R’ Chaim (ben Hagriz) Solovachick is so clearly not an alternate version of what der tatteh said that there is no reason not to mention him.
ReplyDeletei heard blatt shiur and chumash shiur from Rav Dovid for two and a half years. he said over from Rav Moshe at least 6 or 7 times. i remember him once quoting Rav Berel (there may have been more times that i don't remember).
DeleteThe question is a challenge, and therefore it should be asked in the other way , did the younger brothers of R Yoshe ber ever say in his name?
ReplyDeleteBrisk is long a thing of the past
