  1. No farhers may begin until every bochur has a Yeshiva.

Seriously, the Menahalim of Yeshivos are out of control.

  2. It started with a few selfish roshei mesivta who were poretz geder, now a takanas hakahal was destroyed
Hard to imagine these RMs expecting their talmidim to shtell tzu to their rules when they themselves couldn't control themselves

  3. Let it all crumble, most of it is just to help the yeshivas, not the parents or the bachurim. It used to be you had a few days to make your decisions after getting several fathers, now they want an answer within an hour. You almost don't have choices. There are many other issues with the current way. Let every parent work on their own, and the yeshivas will have to wait for their answers.

  4. Nobody should get an acceptance until every rosh mesivta has a minyan of bochurim

  5. One yeshiva is rushing back from a shabbaton so the boys can get farhers
The ones who loose out are the shvachere boys do to the chaos they don't have time to prepare

    ReplyDelete
  6. The mesivta chaos merely reflect the general chaos that reigns in this town

  7. We cannot doubt daas Torah

  8. The elementary schools should be on top of this and not allow their Talmidim to take Farhers or commit to a specific high school until Tu Beshvat

    1. And how would they enforce it?

    2. The mesivtos/ high schools /leagues need the younger division's input, assistance , backing.

  9. There is very little difference in level of iyun between one mesivta and the next because the shiur is generally geared towards the highest level of the talmidim. The main difference between one mesivta and the next is the matzav in as much as it inspires hasmodah. We should create sources of such inspiration from without the yeshivos. This way it won’t matter to which yeshiva a bochur goes.

  10. Seems like we have too many mesivtas and too few bais Yakov high schools. Maybe some of these roshei mesivta should open high schools.
The real kuntz is to turn a gimmel bais Yakov girl into an aleph talmid chacham😁

    1. Problem is that mesivtas can find Rebeim to work for cheap salaries. And their are hundreds of desperate quality Rebeim willing to take the job
But qualified women teachers are not willing to work for cheap salaries and the girls have a lot of extra curricular salaries so it costs way more to rum a girls high school than it costs to run a Mesivta . So for every ten Mesivtas you will find one girls high school. If it ever gets to the point that yungeleit are not willing to teach for a low salary , then half tte mesivtas would close down overnight

  11. More rules and more control just creates more opportunity to play the rules and use loopholes. If you don't like the selection you need either not approve such people starting mosdos (they all need rabbinical approval in the beginning)and if already allowed them to start you need to open up more mosdos so that way it's a Buyers market And that way people don't feel the need to commit

  12. The bigger problem is the professional sports leagues that have become a culture and instead of being a healthy kosher outlet has turned into a life of its own with a fulll blown competitive culture and nature in the boys.

A few menahalim of elementry biys spoke out to parents against it in the past few weeks

    1. Absolutely, it has become a drag on boy's ruchniyus. I heard the Roshei Yeshiva had a meeting about it. Playing ball is good but being a whole excitement is not.

      Delete
    2. It's even worse as ive heard the kids who are not athletic end up benched and don't even get to play cuz the competition is so great the kids want to win and having these other kids that are not as sporty are a drag but who cares if they dont play the main thing is they are part of the culture and have the swag

    3. This message is correct but I find it’s sad that THIS is the issue. We have yeshivos causing stress and not following the norm but yet sports is the issue.

Throw in lace tops too while you’re at it.

    4. The yeshivos is an issue that has to be dealt with but dosent come close to the damage of the sports culture that is stuffing the heads of our children and taking their minds away from Torah learning. It's a serious fundamental issue
Sadly there were rabbonim ready to take action but a few well connected balei batim stopped it..they will have to give a din vecheshbon on what is being done to the little boys.

    5. It's good it was stopped. After stripping out all secular studies and any semblance of a normal and well rounded Orthodox education, and basically any limudei kodesh besides for gemara, sports is perhaps the last thing keeping our boys from turning into bnei brak crazies.

      Delete
    6. The leagues are not targeting mesivta age boys they are meat for younger boys in elementary who have plenty of recreation time the issue is not the playing its the culture that has become
There's a reason a menahel of a non yeshivish school spoke up strongly against it

    7. Playing sports is wonderful.
It is making the eisek about sports that is problematic.

    1. No, you won't silence anybody
Perhaps some financial interests are clouding your vision of a serious breach in devopment of our precious children that mechanchim of the non yeshivish lakewood schools are speaking out against it to the parent body.
They see first hand the effects it has on the boys, they are not speaking out from a kanoi point of view.

    2. @anon10:54. Expressing one’s opinion about an issue is fine. Informing others of what Hashem thinks of them isn’t. You have no idea (and neither do I - and I have no stake in this, financial or otherwise) as to what Hashem thinks about the ‘leagues’. You are not Hashem, nor are you His messenger, unless something radical has changed. Pipe down on the ‘punishment from Hashem’ rhetoric.

  14. The Mesivta situation is really sad , it’s basically like colleges recruiting star athletes but on another level . Fathers being hounded by Mesivta recruiters to send their sons to certain Mesivta “Better boys” being accepted before a bechina or interview is even given … Rosh Hayehsiva sending out people to find out from fathers of boys who their “first choice is “ @The Mesivtas - *What happened to emuna and bitachon*? Don’t you believe Abishter will give you the bochurim that are best for you to mold ? *Do you think you have to have the best name and the “top bochurim” available in order to succeed in doing the abishters work*?? Recruiting months in advance ? *Accepting bachurim earlier than the agreed date* ? Sending people to find out what fathers are thinking ? Emuna? bitachon? This is not hishtadlus, this is baal habatim trying to be the biggest gvir but with a frock and a yeshiva 💥 *Soon we are going to have signing bonuses and offers of full scholarships* 🔥 Prob better this way instead of not having enough spots for each neshama like we have with girls schools , but this is not cool … How are kids suppose to listen to rules when the leaders of the yeshiva can’t follow rules Let’s go back to Yeshiva’s with multiple classes and all types of boys in each yeshiva!! Let’s make all kids feel Special! Let’s stop building ten million dollar buildings for 4 classes in a yeshiva!!

    1. A bunch of horse traders, if not for our arrogance and attitude we would actually be ashamed of ourselves....... one aspiring rosh yeshiva left a message on my message machine telling me I should send my son to his place and how wonderful it will be. I thought about calling back telling him that I am selling fish best prices best quality always fresh.............. He is no better than his grandfather selling fish on the delancey street. At least his grandfather earned an honest living.....

  15. Foget the leagues and the mediocrity of some of these yeshivot.
The ones who broke the takana are the same ones raising tuition.
Seems there's excessive demand for these yeshivot.
Why shouldn't they demand early commitments, together with early deposits and high tuition?

    1. We happen to be Jewish, of the Jewish faith.
We have a Torah that says העוסקים עם הציבור יהיו עוסקים לשם שמים. Even if they can get away with it.

  17. Don't blame the mesivtas
We as a society have to take a good hard look in the mirror by encouraging this elitist behavior.
If we stand strong and push for every class to have a healthy mix of boys everyone would do better in the long-run.

  18. These leagues have literally made us equal to the modern orthodox except we calll ourselves yeshivish and wear black hats
Its a busha that we have become such a society all in the name of kosher outlets and fear of kids going OTD
