At the Lakewood township committee virtual meeting last night a resident called in via video standing in front of the township building calling out the mayor and committee members for not showing up to work and sitting behind the screen in the comfort of their home or at the beach while town hall is empty.
There's no such thing as a boss not showing up to work, he said, how do you expect others to do the job if you guys can't show up.
The township was also criticized for making it hard to find the video link to the live meeting as it is hidden on the website and not directly on the main page. It also takes a few steps and one has to be tech savvy to call in.
Other Residents video called in and yelled at the committee for this scam of not facing the public in person to have a face to face diolague. How much of petition would be enough for the committee to resume in person meetings?
The report in the Asbury Park press was brought up that a large population of Lakewood have no internet access.
The mayor got testy at a caller who asked to go past the allowed 4 minutes of public comment and muted the caller.
The committee had the chutzpah to vote and give themselves a raise again while not even showing up to work and hiding behind their screens. The township was asked why they hired a public relations firm the mayor said they have lobbying firms to help with the states.
Responding to the criticism Mayor Ray Coles said they all show up and bump into each other at the township building.
The bids to run the private school transportation as the LSTA currently does were rejected since they were above costs.

APP: PLEASE EXPOSE WHATS GOING ON OVER HERE WITH THE LAKEWOOD COMITTEE MEMBERS ACTING AS IF ITS THERE IS A NEED FOR QUARENTINE
ReplyDeleteHow about we sell the Lakewood Municipal building, as everyone is on Zoom. Put up Housing for Bnei Torah.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they afraid of?
ReplyDeleteWhy are they petrified to face the public?
What are they hiding?
This seems likeajor corruption
The politicians which were voted into office by us have turned their back on us by refusing to hold in-person meetings so they would be able to hear our concerns in a live face to face setting. It's far easier for them to tune out our concerns when each side sits behind a small screen.
ReplyDeleteAt first, they used the "covid" excuse to turn off our voices (even though they were simultaneously, and quite hypocritically, holding their other meetings face to face). Now that this pretext has lost its hot air, they can no longer attempt to justify this behavior of spitting in the face of their constituents.
At this point, it's about their ego and that they will not give in to the demands of their petty citizens. They'd rather be sitting on their couch or at some beach than have to show up at city hall. For shame!
